What if all leaks and rumors that we have till now about BookPro, it is in fact gonna be new MacBook Air??
What if they upgrade only BookAir this year, and BookPro first in 2017 with KabyLake?? hmmmm?

'BookAir' 'BookPro' ?? I have never heard this slang used before.....

I'm still auto-convinced the leaked upcoming thinner 13" MacBook that will replace the current rMBP13 will move to 15W intel chips instead of 28W, and the MacBook Air won't be updated anymore but remain –too long– on the catalog for its low price point.

I think they will stay with 28W. But I definitely would not be surprised if they switched to 15w. since the air is going out.

Just the thought of that insta-triggers me XD

At that point i'll just buy an iMac and figure out a way to have access to the stuff I need on the go.

It triggers me too, but I am curious why does it bother you?

Atrocious. While Apple's version will certainly be more visually polished, I'll never be convinced to be distracted by having to look DOWN at the keyboard to get stuff done (or use the old function buttons). Even with proper visual design, that just doesn't make any sense.

I signed up an account just to comment on this (I've been lurking for months).

The only reason Apple is putting an OLED bar on the Macbooks is to integrate Touch ID. That's it. I guess they thought it was silly to have a tiny touchscreen "button" so they made it into a whole bar. But fundamentally it's just to have TouchID on the Mac line.

OK, my totally unfounded speculation for next Wednesday:

Start with Tim telling us about the latest 'amazing' big round number the company has achieved - possibly billions paid out to app developers.

After the usual warmup, cut to a video on the new store refurbishments, and bring Angela on stage to sell them.

Next we need a small product slot that people aren't looking for, so I call the Apple TV, or at last the release of the new tvOS, as apps are the future of TV.

Moving on we can get onto the main product - the new watch bands! Naturally to accompany the new watch!

New Apple Watch 2 running watchOS 3 is so much faster and smoother than the original watch running watchOS 2. Then look at all the new things you can do with an untethered watch, and the new OS. Somewhere in here, a big pitch for Apple health. Finally, we are releasing watchOS 3, with some small print that not all features are available on the old watch (if it needs GPS etc.)

Finally, around the 35 minute mark, bring out the video of obscure angles totally failing to reveal the new phone until Tim holds is up. Bring on Phil to talk about all the wonderful things the new phone can do, and the amazing way it is built. Eventually hand over to Craig to demo all the new iOS features that show off the new phone in the best light. Finally announce the immediate release of iOS 10, for iPhone and also for iPad (the only mention it gets in the event).

Bring on the band, and close.

No mention of macs at all.
Hopefully, with no iPad launch, no pushing the iPad as the ultimate computer (but I wouldn't be surprised).

I suspect this is similar to what all but the most cynical or optimistic on this thread are expecting, but happy to hear where you all think I went wrong :)

Yup, this and nothing else, Apple smooth and boring keynote machine at its finest.

Can we have 13 MacBook Pro with kabylake within 2016? Does anybody know?
Yes but it would be versions with worse performance than the pro level Skylake chipsets out right now.

I think they'll also release macOS at the same time. They want to test this OS on a large scale before putting it on their babies in October. OS X has been notorious for being unstable until the .1 release.

What a day. Won a pc w/ 10x0 graphics due to some Pax West giveaways (won't be released until Sept 30th). So now that the pressure of a good gaming build is off, i've expanded my options, will probably look at 15" base rMBP or maybe even the top spec 13" rMBP.

In the meantime, It will be tough for me not to use a rig that's literally 10-20x powerful than my 2010 MBP full time, but I really rely on Mac OS for my daily workflow. Maybe I can hackintosh.

Dell just announced a laptop called Astro 7000 with kabylake i5 7200u. Is this chipset not good compared with skylake?
[doublepost=1472702752][/doublepost]Hey guys, just find this article on the Internet. It says the reason why Apple decides to skip WWDC is because of the flawed skylake chips. It suggests that Apple will use kabylake instead. http://www.loopinsight.com/2016/08/31/our-unreasonable-expectations-of-apple/

Here, when I saw this earlier today, I thought of all you guys that that want both a thinner and lighter MBP that will go even longer on a charge, and yet keep asking/wondering if the new MBP can/will be able to play (add whatever game name) at (whatever refresh rate) on (whatever built in or external display)]
Mac's will never be Gaming Computers

You want a Gaming Computer?

Here check out the NEW Acer Predator 21X

....NOW This...-> THIS Is a Gaming Computer!! ....

And if; you haul a couple of them around long enough every day you'll be able to carry a 2012 13" or 15" cMBP like its a new MB. Of course a pair will come at a cost of about $10,000 at $5,000 each.... but jeez think of the fun you'll have, Disclaimer Requires use of 2 power supplies....Batteries not included and it still weighs 17 lbs

Was reading the piece on The Loop about expectations.

Apple could have released a new MacBook Pro in June at WWDC. It probably would have had the same processor and maybe a couple of upgraded chips. Would that have been enough to satisfy our expectations? Absolutely not. People would have lost their collective minds over a minor upgrade.

I don’t see using Intel’s Skylake as an alternative for Apple. There were shortages in the chips, which would have made for MacBook Pro shortages. Worse still, the Skylake chips had a major flaw that affected processing.

It would have been a disaster for Apple to release a MacBook Pro based on those chips, but people still kicked up a fuss. That’s not reasonable.

By all accounts, there is nothing to suggest that Apple is skipping Skylake for Kaby Lake, but some believe that it could partially be the reason for the delay. But at the same time, rumors still have a new MBP launching in October. And while we don't know of any GT4e Kaby Lake CPUs, Apple could've convinced Intel to do it just for them. I couldn't think of a reason why Intel would, but a friend gave me a suggestion.

If the rumors are also correct, Intel has a huge win in getting to supply much of the iPhone 7 LTE modems. Nevermind the $$$ in revenue supplying for the iPhone will bring in, if Apple asked to get early exclusive access to Kaby Lake for their Macs, I can't imagine Intel saying no. Yields may be low however, low enough that initial supply could be constrained. But in addition to XMM modems, Apple very well may have bought themselves access to Kaby Lake months before everyone else.

If I'm right, we might just be waiting Kaby Lake.

Well a CEO is the one with the final word! So one thing is confirmed, that Cook agrees with the notion of shipping greedy products. Regardless of who thought of these tactics, be it Schiller or whoever, Cook agrees with it.

Now the products are greedy?
[doublepost=1472709249][/doublepost]
Are we seriously considering the option of Apple waiting for Kaby Lake? Skylake was available in May, too, but they didn't release a new MBP immediately, so even if the Kaby Lake chips are ready in January, it could be March before they release a new MacBook Pro. That's two full years since the last refresh. Don't even want to think about that happening :(

Some Skylake was available in May, some were available last year, some will be available later this year, and some will come out next year. CAN WE GET A STICKY POST PLEASE ON HOW THERE ISN'T ONE SKYLAKE OR ONE KABY LAKE PROCESSOR THAT ALL COME OUT AT THE SAME TIME GEEZUS.

So what you are saying is that you would appreciate it if people educated themselves before commenting on the forum? I think you should be barred for such outlandish comments ;)

I can't wait for this Kabylake MacBook Pro in October ! COME ON :D

The only thing I'll say regarding the OLED bar is that this isn't the first time Apple replaced physical keys with a touch screen. I'm not asserting that the FN row swap will prove a success, but removing smartphone buttons at the time was almost unthinkable.

Maybe there will be no physical buttons at all.. I mean a MBP with two large screens flipping on each other one for the keyboard and function tab (Trackpad too?) and all other shortcuts and one for the main screen.. They can add a mac pencil too in this case. didn't apple say "Think different"? I'm taking seriously guys I don't think it's a bad idea..

Mainly because Intel is already manufacturing KabyLake chips that are 15W and seem to fit the bill for what Apple would need from a 15W chip. (I took a look on ark.intel.com and the highest-end 15W chip is "TDP-up"-able to 25W.

I have a grim feeling that this chip may end up in the 13" MBP

I hope that they will not go down that route. The typing experience of this would probably be equal to an iPad, which I, personally, don't care much for. I much prefer the physical keys.
