So now that everyone is guessing on the ports I'll give my opinion on what i think will be the possible port layout.

2x TB3/USB C 3.1 ports (left side)
1x 3.5mm headphone jack (right side)
1x SDXC card reader (right side)

Yep, HDMI and USB A ports gone. TB3 has an HDMI 2.0 controller so another port would be useless.
Finally, im uncertain about the future of magsafe. I know i would miss it but Apple really doesn't care about what we care about. They just do things and that's it, no questions asked, either adapt or GTFO is apparently their motto.

Very much agree with your line up.

Yes Apple always does what they want and it's paid off well.

If they can increase the uptime of the laptop not having MagSafe shouldn't be a problem.

yeah let's go back to the main topics.
I think we can talk about what do you want to see in the next redesign. I already said mine, and don't mind to say it again.

-16in (fits in my bag better)
-USB-C and keeping Mag Safe and SD card slot
-thinner and lighter
-better neatness inside.
-larger trackpad with a new Taptic engine
-not necessarily looking for a screen with smaller pixels and not sure about the keyboard.
I think we're going to see:

- 14" and a 16", but with smaller bezels
- USB-C, Magsafe, SD card slot, HDMI, headphone jack
- Thinner and lighter
- Same trackpad as with current rMBP
- The new MB keyboard
- Losing it's "Retina" moniker (they will discontinue the old non-retina MBP and the MBA)
- MB's metal hinge
- New colors, eg space grey

Bonus:
- Some new innovation that no-one but Apple has thought about haha, except for some guy in 1994 who came up with it but Apple stole the idea, perfected it and calls it new ;)

About Magsafe and USB-C:
wouldn't wireless charging be a logical next version of Magsafe? I am not sure how an Apple implementation would look like, maybe you just put the power brick next to your laptop and the rest is what they call "magic".

Also I don't think that normal (type C) USB ports are about to go away. The Pro series so far has always had quite a variety of ports. Even the MacBook Air gained some more ports during its lifetime, which makes me think the rMB will too.

Don't think wireless charging will be powerful enough to meet the requirements yet, and nothing hi-tech about it.

I think trackpad will get larger, will be easier to use.
I don't really think butterfly it's what heavy keyboard users wanted, they might complaining getting tired faster than the one before.

Well intel certainly thinks it is ready and powerful enough:
.
If you think it is high tech or not is up to you, but it is much more than simple induction: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resonant_inductive_coupling
Maybe it's not so simple, but it's not really a hard job to do, right?
The big question for wireless charging it's there weren't many place for people to charge yet, and it's have to be on top of the "docking station", you can't leave it elsewhere.
My thought would be if it can automatically charged as soon you walk into the room that's capable to do so.
For right now it's more like showing fancy features rather than really worth it.
Just my thoughts.

Multiple charging methods are fine, as well. The new XPS series has both a traditional Dell charging port, and a USB-C port. Both can be used for charging, but the USB-C can also be used for data.

Hooks up three chargers at the same time...lol

2 x TB3 not enough. You will need two of them to run an external monitor that at the moment runs on TB2/miniDP + USB. Add a least another one to attach an external drive or mouse or anything else

yes but the MBP will be release earlier than the next imac and mac pro? i presume October 2016 will be the imac release
The Mac Pro release might coincide with the MBP release, they're both work horses compared to the consumer-ish iMac.

so the MBP in your vision is more powerful than the imac?
i doubt that, the cpu and dgpu on the imac are still more powerful than MBP

Of course it's more powerful, its a desktop. What I meant was that Mac Pro and Macbook Pro fall (or are supposed to fall) under the same "Pro" category. That's why they could be released at the same time, as part of a "pro event". Just a thought :)
