After they got a lot of criticism for their lack of attention for pro/prosumer users they responded with their vision for a pro computer, the iMac Pro (and Mac Pro next year I think) with:
- high end CPU,
- high end GPU,
- loads of RAM,
- All the ports (USB A, SD, Ethernet, TB3).

If they believed in Laptops they would have created a laptop with the same high end hardware, instead they did nothing except a minuscule spec bump for the laptops, no terraced battery, no 32gb of ram, price increase.

So it is clear to me, their vision for laptops is the eGPU...

Terraced battery. They had tech problems last year, i.e. 8/10 months ago, on a technology that they are already using with no problems on the MB....I do not believe it.

They just don't care to increase battery capacity because they will always settle for mid level hardware and next year LPDDR4 will be available

Personally want 15" non-TB, sans dGPU (basically a 15" version of nTB 13")

i.e., less price, longer battery, less probability of failure.

That they didn't even mention TB during WWDC and no signs of TB coming to iMacs (including iMac Pro), I think, is a good sign

Yeah you're probably right. But... look, they look nice.

I've got no dog in this race but I'll pitch a tent and join you fine hobos (to quote another MR user) for yet another yearlong wait .
Checking in as well even though I'll likely be buying a KL 13" TB MBP next week. I've waited for 9 years and just got a new 4K display that my old 2008 AluminumBook cannot even drive - it is time.

Who's with me?

Hopefully we'll see:
- Coffee Lake
- 32 GB of DDR4 RAM
- Battery improvements
- Touch Bar improvements

Possible release dates:
- March 2018
- WWDC 2018

I AM WITH YOU and YOU are with Me.

2018 MBP Touch Bar. This is Simple

120Hz Display Similar to what the new iPad Pro Got
HDR Display again Similar to what the iPad Pro Got yesterday
both of these Display Improvements should be inline for the MacBook Pro
DDR4 RAM of course
Coffee Lake not Kaby Lake with DDR3 RAM makes no sense.
10-Bit support HDMI 2.1 HDR out.

Realistically speaking, how much is the performance increase of Coffee Lake compare to Kaby Lake? Like Kaby Lake was over Skylake? My 2010 MBA is already on its limits... I'm not sure if I could wait another year.

IIRC, they never changed the displays in between redesign before, i guess you're out of luck with that one.

THERE WE GO!
All aboard the Waiting train!
Chooo choooo!
Who's with me?!
@navaira @Dydegu @ThisBougieLife @Uni Grad @Oppenheim and all the other lost souls of the Waiting crew...

/seriously though, despite enjoying my Skylake MBP, I'm really curious about the next MacBook Pro upgrade, rumored by Ming Chi Kuo, expected in october/november.
I believe we'll see another 2017 MBP, before the 2018.

I'm on board too!

I want, no, NEED!!! 32GB of Ram.
And honestly... 10nm Cannonlake would be cool too :D

I am actually kinda hopeful that we might get a PRO Notebook again. The last 2-3 years Apple seems to have done their own thing. Disregarding consumers at every turn. I think they notices people were not buying their stuff anymore.

How else can we explain that FINALLY... they admitted the Mac Pro was a bad idea. Telling us they are working on a new one. And in the mean time... to bridge the time... release a pretty awesome iMac Pro!!! That is btw... NOT too expensive... as some people claim. $5k, for an 8 Core Xeon, with a 1TB SSD, 32GB ECC Ram, and an awesome 5k display. Sounds pretty fair to me. Plus in relation to the regular iMac... if you spec it similarly, the price is also pretty similar.

Then also don't forget, after 10 YEARS of people begging Apple... they finally released a NEW full-size aka Numpadded (yes it's a verb) Bluetooth Keyboard.

They released new watch-bands... did they even mention them on stage? No. Because while some people like to buy them... it is NOT worthy of stage time.

iPad Pro pro features...

The list goes on.

It looks like Apple is really trying to finally steer the ship around again!!! One can only hope!

I thought I would be buying a new MBP yesterday as well, but like most others can't just throw over 3k at a machine that still has 16GB of RAM max in 2017 (I have the 16GB 2012 MBPr). I really hope rumors for 32GB still possible in 2017 are really, but with coffeelake delayed I don't see it.

Of course I'm here @WRONG, I wouldn't miss this thread for a barrel full of 2012 Mac Minis!

Can we beat the number of posts in Skylake thread? Is the hardcover print edition of that thread available yet? *emails Tim Cook demanding no rMBP updates for five years*

On a SLIGHTLY more serious note, I am surprised by the new MBPs. Because they updated exactly NOT the components I expected. I was thinking improved screen, terraced battery, price drop, possibly slightly better keyboard. And this, lads and ladies, is how you know I am not Ming Chi-Kuo.

I'm holding out for the return of MagSafe.

If I kick the thing onto the floor and smash it to bits (as I would have done countless times with my current MBP if MagSafe hadn't saved me every time), everything else is irrelevant.
