I would prefer the Touch Bar in addition to the F keys, rather than instead, although I know that's not going to happen. Possibly a physical esc key might return.

I do like the new magic keyboard though, since that gives a full set of F keys and I can still use the Touch Bar for things like volume/brightness etc.

Personally, after using it for awhile, I'm a touchbar believer. I actually kinda miss it on my desktop (sometimes). Haptic feedback would definitely be a major plus though, it needs to happen frankly.

As it currently stands though, 32GB would be overkill for me. The 16GB I have suits me just fine despite having a lot of apps and such open. If you're running VMs or working with 4-5K video a lot I would understand the need for it, but at that point I would imagine a desktop is more suitable.

It Appears that Coffee Lake integrates in 15 and 28W TDP 4 core CPU and Iris Pro 580-performance level GPU.

Cores wise, the same core count as Iris Pro 580. Memory on package - still 64 MB. GTX 750 Ti level of performance in 28W TDP.

I hope Apple brings back the 17". Same chassis style as the current gen just bigger to accommodate the 17" display, 99Whr battery, using mobile Xeon CPU's, AMD 580 and configurable up to 64GB of ram. A Macbook "Pro" if you will.

I said similar things and replied to similar posts before... and I will every time someone says something like this!

Instabuy!

Wanted an updated MacBook with thunderbolt 3--not this year. Seriously considered 13" MBP with Touch bar but the gimped extra ports put me off. So, I will wait for 2018 updates and limp along with my mid-2013 11" MBA.

Who's with me?

Hopefully we'll see:
- Coffee Lake
- 32 GB of DDR4 RAM
- Battery improvements
- Touch Bar improvements

Possible release dates:
- March 2018
- WWDC 2018

Fix it for Intel Cannonlake & 32GB LPDDR4 & AMD Vega mobile GPU (HBM2) :)

Coffeelake is not what many people are waiting for ;)

Cheers

PS. Cannonlake is also rumored to be released in 2018!
PS2. Coffeelake will still not support 32GB of LPDDR4. However, Cannonlake will!

Now that we are talking about a hypothetical quad core 13" MacBook Pro, how will it impact its battery life? Also, it might hold true that the no touch bar version will only get the 2 cores CPU while the higher has the extra option for a couple of hundreds as note de by other poster.

My 2012 MBP is starting to show it's age, so I was going to upgrade this year. But just like you, I think I will hold until 2018. I am hoping for a price cut also.

Wishful thinking on that price cut. A baseline 15" MBP is an insane $3200 Canadian. I'd love a 15" MBP again but I shouldn't have to sell my kidney for it or any other Apple product.

I cannot find accurate information yet... and am rather confused.

Does anyone here know, and also preferably have a source to read up on it, when Intel is gonna release (like roadmap approx... delays can always happen...):

a 10nm mobile CPU that is the equivalent of today's H-Series Quad Cores?
(I guess this CPU might be Hexa-Core then... but... like I said, I cannot really find any information on that.)

Do not forget that Cannon Lake will only come in 5W and 15W chips and mainly focused on power saving features. MacBook suitable Ice Lake chips will launch Q2 2018 and later and include 5W, 15W, 28W and 45W chips!

My 2012 rMBP is really starting to show it's age now. When the tb mbr came out in Nov I decided to hold off until Kaby Lake and now that day has come I've ordered one and it's winging it's way to it's new mummy as we speak.

I did consider waiting until 2018 for 32gb ram etc but if you keep putting stuff off waiting for the next best thing thats rumoured to be around the corner you'll always be waiting.

I ordered the 2020 Invisible keyboard with 64`GB DDR5 RAM, unlimited storage(new breakthrough technology) at the amazing price of a kidney and a lung. But it's well worth it. I hope I live till then to see my "baby" shipped. :)

And Those CPUs have... 15W TDP.

If anyone is asking. There is no Coffee Lake CPU in ULV type with dual core setup.

All of those CPUs are 4C+GT3e. The samples over here are 15W, so they could easily fit in Macbook Air, and will go to MBP non-TouchBar.

Cannon Lake brings 45% power reduction (and additional 30% in the improved node), Apple could easily decide that 4 cores / 8 Threads is enough and make a thinner 15" Macbook Pro.

I'm waiting for the 2021 for the new keyboard mechanism that has wireless injection of endorphins to the tips of your fingers making typing a more relaxed user experience...

If you have night mode turned on it will zap your fingers with a mild electric shock to help you work throughout the night without falling asleep

The CannonLake CPUs are not going out before 2019, with late Q4 2018 at best availability.
They will bring 8 Core/6 core/and 4 core setups to Core i7, Core i5, and Core i3 lineups, respectively.
This, and next year we are going to see Coffee Lake CPUs on mobile: 6 core i7 45W TDP CPUs, and 4core/8 Thread GT3e CPUs on 15 and 28W thermal targets.

CPU architecture is the same as Skylake. No increase in IPC.

Intel decided to go with similar to Iris Pro 580 core count on ULV Coffee Lake CPUs, because of Ryzen iGPU threat. With HBM2 on package Intel is not able to bring any technology that would beat AMD in terms of graphics. Raven Ridge APU is 35W, with Quad core/8 Thread CPU, and 704 GCN core setup, for non HBM2 versions. HBM2 are not announced yet.

Intel doesn't agree with you, first cannonlake CPUs in early 2018.
