I got an iPad about 3 weeks ago. I got it at walmart, I still have proof of purchase. Will they take it? Thanks! I want to buy the 2

Yes, but has anyone returned something out of the return period?

They're Walmart; they probably won't care ... as long as you have proof of purchase

I hope so!

The overworked underintellegent people at the customer service counter at the wal mart supercenter near my college barely even looked at anything before scanning the barcodes and forking back the dough. I can't imagine they'd care.

I hope they fork up some $500 dough! I'm praying they will take it.

I wonder how soon they will get the iPad 2?

If they give you any trouble returning it, I would speak with the manager. They would probably approve the return.

Not to be rude or anything... But, why should they take it back? They have a standard return policy. You used it for 3 weeks? There's nothing wrong with it? Why should they take it back? The rumors have been heavy for a while that the iPad 2 was on the way, live it with you decision to buy it...

OMG, you Philistine. Don't you know that everyone is a victim???

If they don't take it back then, like someone else said, ask to speak to a manager. Be polite and truthful with him/her. Honesty is the best policy and often they will try to do what they can to help out. They might offer to give you store credit and refuse to offer cash. If that happens then it's just up to you to be patient or cough up the extra dough for the iPad 2 and use your credit for groceries or other needs.

Do you think walmart will give me $500 back? Cause the iPad 2 came out, and the iPad 1 price was dropped

You can ask. The worst thing they can say is no. If they won't take it back, then you have 2 options. First, try and sell it. But prices are dropping pretty fast and you are probably going to take a significant loss. Second, enjoy your iPad and realize it still does everything that you wanted it for when you bought it.

Walmart return policy in a nutshell: "Our customer is up on a pedestal, our employees can take it in the shorts and get on the state medical program." So they have a return lottery. To keep costs down every item that is returned is taken out of the pay of one lucky employee based on drawing names out of a hat. Items over $200 may be shared by multiple employees. ;)

I'm not sure how Apple is about ipads, but with their computers purchased within 3weeks, maybe a month it can be exchanged for a restock fee of $100. If such a policy exists for iPads, hopefully the restock fee would be less. Items returned like this are resold as refurbished.

For the OP here is a Rule for Future Reference: Before purchasing any Apple Products check the manufacture cycle. Admittedly it may be difficult getting this info out of an Apple store employees. That's why MacRumors exists! :D

LMFAO, I hope he feels good knowing hes taking food from the children of poor Wal Mart employees... but seriously, rumors of the refresh have been running a muck for several weeks now...much less the published Apple iPad 2 Event. Sorry man, should have been a little more aware/patient.

Walmart sales are down ... they are hurting right now ... greed has prevailed

You can always try another Wal Mart in the area. If at first you don't succeed...

We are going to another walmart. It makes me me mad because it doesn't say on the receipt, or in the customer service area. I'm on safari now, and on the regular view. Why was all of that junk above my posts?

It has something to do with the mobile view of Macrumors... I am interested in knowing if they take it back. If they don't, politely say "May I speak with your superior?" I suspect you are a younger forum member, because you said "we" not "I". Usually when people are driving somewhere by themselves, they say "I." Am I right?
