want to keep facetime AND jailbreak? heres how....

Did you restore from backup? A restore will wipe the phone clean. Both must be there. Try to restore to an early backup.
 
Has restore JB and then restore from backup worked for you personally after rebooting your phone?

Also, I've stayed on 4.0 is it safe to update to 4.0.1 for unlock?

thats super weird. facetime came back on both phones of mine after a restore.
 
If iTunes created a backup after you jailbroke, you might still lose facetime and mms after a restore and backup restore. did you guys check to see if facetime was there without restoring any backup?
 
Gotta love restoring from backup... save states are still there and everything...

I'm gonna wait for a better jailbreak...

ive restarted the phone multiple times now installing different stuff on cydia and facetime is still there.
 
A person on sinfuliphone forums did a restore and then a jailbreak and has FT and MMS working.

CrAkd - you're going to be a hero for figuring this out.

Weird...didn't work for me.

I did a restore, then jailbroke and had MMS and Facetime, then I installed SBSettings and that caused me to lose MMS/Facetime. I assume due to the respring which is similar to a reboot.

An hour? I wish. I've got 16GB of music converted to 128KB AAC on-the-fly, which on my iMac takes ... I don't know. A long time. About five hours, I think ...
 
i had 4.0 restored to 4.0.1 and set up as new phone. i am jbing now. what do i exactly do next? tia.

my phone has SBSettings AND facetime? So im confused where you could have went wrong. what version of itunes do you have and was your backup made from a jailbroken phone?
 
Restored, set up as new, didn't sync, jailbroke, rebooted.

Lost MMS & FaceTime.
 
Ok, so to be clear, can you explain OP the exact thing we need to do? I'm lost :( And does this work if you restore to 4.0? or it has to be 4.0.1?
 
worked for me, factory restored, installed jb, then restored back up, turned off and back on etc and mms and facetime are there. nice work
