Lol you just had to get that Samsung dig in. Tbh when I ordered my S8, I was just as hyped as I am now for my iPhone 10. Hell I'm hyped for next years S9 as well. I'm just an old tech nerd

I feel like my subconscious went and got its own Macrumors account.

I spent $2 more a month than I do now for a phone that's exactly what I have been wanting Apple to make. New design, all screen, no huge chins, OLED, best camera, and wireless charging are all things I am looking forward to.

freakin cheers to that!

I hear this a lot, about the iPhone being a "Status Symbol", but I don't buy it. I can see designer purses, fancy cars and designer watches as status symbols, but not an iPhone. Especially when everyone and their grandma and buy one.
Ever see an LV bag? Almost everybody has it, especially in Asia, but that doesn’t change its value as status symbol.
Phone as status symbol might not be that relevant in developed countries like US. But in Asia, where houses and cars are even more expensive than in the US, leaving them out of reach for many, phones become the status symbol for many of the younger generation.

check out the lines of people in Apple store Singapore on the iPhone X release date.

As I’m getting older (currently 21) I am becoming less impatient of orders. When me and my fiancé’s watches and ATV came I actually helped her get her watch set up before I even opened mine. In years past I’d have tore up that box so fast. Guess it’s all part of growing up and realizing how much other stuff is going on around you.

nope im on an android
this is a big difference either way you look at it

I have a macbook which is my main computer now and I want the integration with iPhone

Enjoy the waiting period. By tomorrow night you'll realize you paid over $1000 just to check Facebook and Instagram exactly the same way you're doing today (myself included) ;).

EDIT: This came off as unintentionally negative. My main point is to enjoy life and enjoy the whole experience we have been going through, from the rumors, the reveal, the pre-ordering, and now the waiting and anticipation. All of it is part of the "event". It's what makes Apple reveals special. If you just want to walk into a store and buy a phone with no fanfare, go get a Samsung...

What’s an Instagram? Do they still strip, or don’t they have time for it if they’re instant, I’d imagine they must have to cover a lot of ground in a short space of time?

Anyway, I agree with you to a certain level, the novelty factor always wears off after a while with any new purchase.
But I don’t know that I’ll tire of the OLED screen or the better camera. Nice practical things you can enjoy for a long time.

Oh, and I’m going to hope and prey we get a belly button Animoji, just so I can freak the wife out. I’d never tire of that :D

New technology is exciting and Apple is such a special company because they make such a great product in so many different ways. I'm not someone that needs to have something in my hands on day one, and as expensive as Apple products are, I make sure I truly want this device for the right reasons, not just solely for the fact that everybody's talking about the latest and greatest.

I have over a thousand downloaded movies including all my all-time favorites and several of my favorite TV shows on a $80 2TB Seagate external hard drive thanks to Piratebay and YIFY movies. Selection on iTunes is too limited. That's thousands of dollars saved and I don't really need Netflix or cable.

I also had a $30 Lumia 640 that was probably better than an iPhone 4s and 5 with its camera. I still have a $30 Moto E that made me alot of money doing Postmates back in Feb before switching to DoorDash. I saved so much from Black Friday, Amazon, and Best Buy weekly ads, I felt like I was robbing.

I have saved tons. I got Dreamcast for $50 new back in Dec 2001. I got an LG G5 for only $120. I got a LG V20 for practically free thanks to the rebate card from the S7 edge which I pulled off using a $120 G5 as a trade-in. I got an iPhone SE for only $200 and it's even cheaper now at $150. Back in the day, I had emulators on my iPod touch and PSP.

By Sat if I win a horse race by betting only $100 and make $500 profit, the iPhone X is 50% off. I'm good. I'm thinking of sipping on whine right now from all the sour grapes I see... ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you the one who said you are on welfare and food stamps, have maxed out all your credit cards, and owe taxes? Yet you are buying an iPhone X and gambling? I think your priorities are a bit out of whack...

Speak for yourself.

I wasn't initially excited about this iPhone and the price didn't help. The main reason I'm getting it is I'm upgrading from the 6s Plus and the battery life sucks, so if I'm going to upgrade I may as well go big or go home. I am excited about tomorrow and can't wait to play around with it, but I can see myself 2 weeks from now just seeing it as a regular phone, nothing special.
You could have saved $900-$1050 and just replaced your battery. :p

It's so funny how a lot of people bring up how a "huge chin" is so ugly on a phone. This was never the case until Apple cane out with their new design on the X. Now the notch is not so bad and it sets Apple apart from the rest. When Apple finds a way to get rid of the notch, the same people are going to turn around and say "I can't have a phone with that ugly notch". Did you all not own a smartphone in the past because they all had chins? Did you not find it ugly at that time?

The chins weren't great, but it was still the best phone out there. The notch is a compromise because we need front facing cameras. I don't mind it for now, but I definitely wouldn't mind if it wasn't there in a future model.

Once again, fanboys keep redrawing the line in the sand. Because it's Apple, everything is ok. These are the same fanboys that felt a phone above 4'' is too big, OLED is a terrible technology, a stylus is not needed (proceeds to buy a $150 pencil), mini tablets are awful as 9.7'' is prefect. Since and repeat.

The notch is ugly. I understand the compromise, but that doesn't make it less ugly.
[doublepost=1509708078][/doublepost]That's usually how it is. Our imaginations make everything perfect and then reality sets in.

The whole "event" thing is aimed at keeping the public making payments on things they don't really own.

No, it isn't. It's part of building a brand and community around the products. Like it or not, Apple is very good at that and one of the reasons they are one of the most valuable companies in the world and people love them.

..... and how many iPhone X's would Apple sell (especially to iphone 6,7, and 8 owners) if they actually had to be paid for on order or delivery? :D

Put 10 brand new $100 bills in front of you and your old iPhone, then see how excited about the X you are. We'll have to disagree .

It's not about early adopters. The same applies when most people buy something new. You plan, research, place an order, then wait. That time is usually pretty enjoyable. Once you receive the item it usually doesn't bring with it the same level of enjoyment.

Agreed! I find myself getting up and trying to get the new iPhone or whatever for the game/sport of it all. I still want the products I buy, but the wait is sometimes the best part.

Live long and prosper. LOL!

You could say the same about buying a house, car, going on vacation, or practically anything in life. It's a depressing outlook in general in my opinion.
I agree that you could say the same about almost anything, but I don’t find it depesssing. Just a good reminder that it’s better to live in the now rather than always waiting for that next <whatever>.

As a camera nerd, I know I will like the upgrade cameras. I already love the different on the 8 compare to my 7+, and X has better telephoto lens which is a great addition.

I understand that some may be flabbergasted for those who will buy this phone because:

A. It's a first gen of its kind from Apple
B. it's $999 or above

But you know what? If you really want people to live their lives and be happy, well, then let them buy it instead of trying to put them down.

Very true, but then the same can be said for a lot of things. Do we really need to spend £3 on a coffee from Costa or wherever when we can have one for a few pence at home? Do we really need that slightly bigger TV that shows the same old stuff just at a slightly higher resolution? Do we need a new £450 games console to replace the one that plays perfectly well and has the same old franchises? What about the car we drive to work and back in and spends 95% of its time sat on the drive, does that need to be replaced with a new model when all it does is get you from A to B just the same?

It's called being privileged and fortunate enough to be in a position where we have enough disposable income to make these decisions. Yes, a lot of the adrenaline comes from the anticipation and wanting, but then if you took the same attitude all the time, you'd still be using a Nokia 3310 or whatever.

Putting it into perspective, at the end of the day most people are rarely away from their phone. They carry it everywhere, it performs countless daily functions around browsing, navigation, photos, music, games. It's an alarm clock, it's a timer, it's their watch, it's whatever they want it to do just by downloading an app. If you ask me I think phones are way under-priced for what they offer. Yes you can get cheaper Androids or even cheaper iPhones, but when a device is now such an integral part of daily life and carried everywhere, I have no issues with how iPhone X is priced.

Almost sounds like you've been looking for a Note 8. :)
