How are you guys able to tell if it is a BTO order from China? I ordered the standard config MB 2.4, but I added apple care.

Please do not tell me that buying apple care makes it a custom config!!

I don't think think there's any way to tell, other than by how far away the estimated delivery date is? What delivery date does it say on your order status?

If you were in the same position you would be "crying a ****ing river" but since you aren't getting one you don't care. Either way, your posting was non productive to anyone reading it.

If i were in the same position I wouldn't care. I've ordered a ****ing laptop and it might take a little longer to arrive. i'd probably busy myself with other things, like, you know, life.

as it is, i went to the apple store today and OMFG they didn't have any. it was a ****ing joke and i stamped my feet and threw a ****ing baby tantrum in the middle of the store because life is sometimes just so ****ing hard.

talk about ****ing first world problems.

And that really helps! I was looking for an answer that might actually help me out.

Well that was a JOKE, sorry for trying to be funny. Clearly you're above humor.

Anyhow, as previously stated, anything ordered with a laptop (ie something you select ADD as you're ordering the system) makes it a CTO custome blah blah cause they'll have to put that apple care kit into your box ... which is a custom job according to them.

And who says the shi%^y weather in the UK doesn't make them insane? lol

seriously, why can't these things get into the box by themselves? wtf is up with people having to do it?!

'lol'

look love, you're the one who's all bent out of shape because something is shipping a couple of days later then you initally expected. if the weather makes me cranky, i have no idea what your excuse is for being a demanding bore who thinks the world owes them something and promptly cries when something as heinous as a delayed delivery affects them.

It is not done like most car dealers where they have multiple levels of the same car on the lot. Apple makes lots of the stock models (presumably because they sell the most) and then custom creates anything else.

This is true of the warehouse in China and the Apple store.

Maybe if I dumb it down.

Apple said "We ship in 2 days"
I give apple money
Apple said "Thank you, we ship in 5 days"

If their inventory system can't provide accurate shipping quotes then it shouldn't be telling people anything, or underpromise an overdeliver.

And that's why nobody should ever buy a Macbook Pro online again?
And if your notebook ships in 3 days, then you shouldn't complain.

Thats why I never order it from Apple.com, I just went to the mall this morning at the Apple Store and they had full stock of the new 15" mbp. Saw like 5 people walk in and walk out with them.

I almost did too but I think I'll wait and see what everyone else is saying about them before buying. :D

Oh and another Apple store 15 min the other way from where I live is the Galleria, I called them and they said they have plenty O new macbook pro 15"... but man where are the new 17"?!~

I was responding to someone else's comment not the overall topic. My response to you is farther up.

Read! I didn't post to say don't buy... I didn't post saying I'd never order online again, I ONLY posted to share my experience so if someone wants a Macbook Pro and is in the same config-situation as me they take that into consideration. I was trying to be helpful you idiot.
