I can confirm it’s true. Got a 2023 BMW 420d as a rental car and it fried my iPhone 15 Pro’s NFC chip within 2 days of using the wireless charger. Phone was barely one week old. I’m guttered… Glad I have AppleCare+ but they can’t do anything in Europe as apparently they have to replace my phone and have to wait until my return in China to do it. In the meantime no Apple Pay on a brand new phone that’s worth over $1,000 USD. Pretty disappointed as it’s not the first issue I have with this phone in such a short time…

To all BMW users who updated their iPhone 15 Pro to iOS 17.1.1:

Did you try your updated iPhone 15 Pro in combination with the BMW charging pad?

I don't want to be the first ...
My Apple Pay NFC chip was destroyed recently by the wireless charging in a BMW X5, and I do not wish to repeat this experiment.

Ideally, an Apple employee should do the experiment and then report here.
