Pretty funny how half of this thread is made up of super hot take posts saying “if you installed this on your personal device you have no room to complain.” Meanwhile, there are zero such complaints in this thread. Lol

The fact that people race to install .1 betas , to overcome .0.X GM builds shortcomings, says a lot in and of itself. I think some people just do it rain or shine but a lot is probably the former with hopes of
Overcoming some other bumpy roads

My new iPhone 14 Pro was a brick until I was able to install 16.0.1 and it took several tries before I was able to completely transfer my settings, apps, etc. This is the worst new iPhone experience I've ever had!

Don’t you see the issue with them needing to do this in the first place? 😂
They realised there was some bugs in the initial iOS 16 release that affected the iPhone 14, so they released an update that was available straight away when people got hold of the phones. Seems sensible to me.

Of course.. but you’d think this would have been ironed out before shipping. Especially with it moving to Esim, the activation bug is actually a fairly big problem. Many people wouldn’t of known to update too.

iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max owners should be aware that the iOS 16.1 beta is preventing the GPS from working properly on the devices for many users. Anyone who relies on location tracking should avoid the beta for now.

Bugs are common with beta software, but this issue affects a core function of the iPhone, prompting us to share this warning. iPhone 14 Pro users who already installed the iOS 16.1 beta will have to downgrade to iOS 16.0.1 or wait until a later iOS 16.1 beta fixes the issue in order to restore GPS functionality. A cause of the bug is unclear.

Like the Apple Watch Ultra, iPhone 14 Pro models feature dual-frequency GPS support. This means the iPhones can receive signals from GPS satellites operating on both the legacy L1 frequency and the higher-power L5 frequency, which can better travel through obstacles like buildings and trees. A combination of the two signals should lead to improved location accuracy in mapping apps and more.

The standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus do not have dual-frequency GPS support.

Siri - I am NOT in Idaho!

First trip since setting up my 14 Pro Max this morning and no issues..but I’m also plugged into my VW Atlas, so wondering if the car’s GPS is helping avoid any issues the phone may be having on 16.1??

When I remove the iOS 16 Beta Profile, the search for iOS updates fails with „Unable to check for update“.
Same here. Sending photos on WhatsApp crashes the app, widgets and App Library rendering on top of Home Screen instead of separately, never had a beta so bad in 2 years. I had a 16 RC back up so I tried to do a DFU restore on Finder and...nothing. "There was a problem downloading the software" message pops up on Finder.

It looks like apple's one and only focus these days is milking their customers dry. Their software has been going down the toilet for quite a while now.

Oh great, the “but it’s a beta” crowd again.

Betas are actually for devs to build and test apps before release. This is a pretty big impediment for testing GPS functionality as it’s one of the things that you can’t test well in the simulator, or down level versions if you’re developing against the newer APIs.
Right. Did Apple even test this on their flagship before release?
