I caved in the other day and bought a new 8 gig iphone from o2. It is a great device, and if the new one adds more memory, 3g and GPS, then I will probably get one of those as well. I really do need to phones because I have various sims from other countries because I travel a lot. I will jailbreak the 2.5g and use it for travel.

You go!
La vita è bella

I think it was a poor decision considering you bought a 10-month old phone, that was somewhat outdated (data connectivity) to begin with, full well knowing an improved model with [minimum] 3G and GPS is imminent.

Yes, there will always be something new, but you purchased at the very end of the life cycle, instead of the beginning or middle. If you've made it without an iPhone all these months, you could have made it until June. You will have severe buyer's remorse (and a model that will fetch a far lower resale value) in less than six weeks.

I completely agree with this, even if I didn't follow it myself. You can buy something in the middle of its cycle, but when you know that the new 3G iPhone is coming very soon, you should just wait it out a bit more. If it was in a few months, then I would agree, but honestly, it's less than 2 months of waiting.

I myself have been waiting since October and I wish I had bought it back then. If it doesn't come out June 9th, I will buy it, but I have waited a very long time, a month and a half won't hurt, especially when it has so many benefits to it.

Yes you were dumb. Very dumb. Retarded in fact.

3g iPhone will be out in June. That's less then two months away.

Edge network sucks. I didn't realize how bad it was until I bought an iPhone last summer. It's really embarrassing how slow it is.

love you too.

love you too.

All I was saying was that if you need people to tell you you made the right decision when you clearly didn't, don't come to us. Everyone on the rumors knows the 3g iphone is coming out in less than 3 months. If you enjoy wasting 250-300 dollars (because that's in effect what you're doing) because you can't wait that long, by all means go for it!

If I were you, I would return it and wait for the new one to come out. It would be a stupid move in the long run not to wait, in more ways than one (refer to my previous comment - better resale, 3g for when it DOES come to your area, possible gps which is nice, same price point.)

Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I just traveled to Sacramento CA from Louisville KY and had stops in Phoenix, AZ and Chicago Ohara...and every single airport and open wifi that my iPhone accessed. With being in airports small to major and all had wifi, I find it hard to believe part of your post. I do however, agree with the rest of what you stated.

I find it about 50/50 with probably a slight leaning towards pay WiFi. San Jose, Oakland, and Seattle are the airports I use most often and they are all pay.

iphones are out there for around 250 $ and I doubt that I can not resell them for less than 150 $, so all we can loose are 100 $ .... :apple:

I bought one today. I've read about all of the rumors of a new one coming out and will probably buy it about a month after launch if it's any good... GPS would be a plus for me. Better battery life, stuff like that. If not I'll just buy another 1st gen. Plan on giving the one I just bought to my g/f for her birthday in June anyway. Sounds like it's about the right timing. :D
