Was going with titanium going to backfire for Apple?

titanium is a really bad choice for heat generation devices (as smartphones) because it dissipates heat very poorly. Use of titanium may turn out to be a major mistake by Apple.
Titanium has a low level of thermal conductivity.

In other words, when heated by the same source, titanium is warmed by about 60% as much as iron and stainless steel.
 
It is but nobody is complaining about the strength of the Samsung aluminum cases. People do complain about the heat dissipation of titanium iPhones.
All things being equal, the stainless steel itself would be 40% warmer than titanium due to titanium's lower thermal conductivity.

The issue is that the titanium doesn’t conduct the heat away in a good way, it needs to take other ways to “escape” sts, otherwise the heat gets trapped and can create quite some heat at the source.

That's possible, but a lot of complaints I've seen involve people specifically mentioning the frame. I imagine this will become clearer over time.

I would prefer a somewhat warmer iPhone that works properly than a cool iPhone that throttles hard to keep itself up.
Just playing around those demo ones in Apple Store, all I did was taking some photos and poking around a bit, the phone gets warm in the motherboard part already.

Nobody mentioned that low thermo conductivity low thermal discharges. Titanium frame stays warm much longer than aluminum.
 
I would do aluminum across all models but do it two-tone. Standard models have a space gray edge and the pro models have a silver edge. Only the back is colored.
 
maybe you should read my other posts before commenting. i already said i dont hold it while driving. i use it at the red light, which is perfectly legal.

i have also driven in UK with no problems

You wouldn’t be able to use your phone stationary at traffic lights as any use while the engine is running whilst on the road is illegal. Even tapping the screen to accept a notification is illegal and rightly so. The biggest issue is not enough people are caught and arrested for it.

Who knows and really I don't know also. I am sure the drop testers on YouTube probably would drop their primary standard iPhones but pick on the Pro models only

The road traffic act of my country:

"It states that a driver of a vehicle is guilty of an offence if he or she holds a mobile communication device in his or her hand and uses any of its communicative or other functions while the vehicle is in motion on a road or in a public place."

Key words here are IN MOTION

This years models aren’t as strong as last years judging by these tests, so anybody saying titanium is ‘stronger’ is rather missing the point that it’s irrelevant in this particular application.
I am thinking because the frame is more rigid that the glass. It stands to reason. I worked as an aviation mechanic for over 30 years before I retired 6 years ago and I absolutely hated drilling titanium as it required low speed drilling with heavy pressure and was difficult to drill properly. That being said yes titanium does scratch but it does not effect the material strength

Even if this years models are not as strong as the heavy stainless steel but the weight savings and balance of the phone is so much better. As I still do my hobbies and it is in my shop and I have a ugly high impact case on my phone anyway there is no way I go out in the concrete floor with my phone without a case because I have always had the thing I drop things as my hands are battered from over 50 years of working as a mechanic.

Wrong. If you’re holding the phone you’re looking at it. I can hold a cup and even take a sip while keeping my eyes on the road, not on the cup.

as mentioned before, i put my phone on the magnetic car holder while driving and only use it while at red lights.

Sorry, straight from my country's rulebook. I can use it while at a red light. I put it on the magnetic car holder while drivng.


"It is no longer just talking or texting that will get you in trouble. The new changes include surfing the web, visiting social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and downloading material. The law applies to holding a device while driving. It is not illegal to use a mobile device when the car is stationary. But motorists are strongly advised not to handle their device at a red light."
