I liked Dave Lee's review. He was good about pointing out the pluses and minuses, and was actually surprised that there were so many pluses.
If that's insufficient for your needs, best to wait for the mid/upper tier versions with more ports to transition.
You do realize this is merely the first stage in a multi-stage platform transition, yes?
7) Limited ports
Except the Mac Mini, which has two fewer USB-C ports.Let's do remember these have the same number of ports as the Intel models they replaced.
True - they've apparently split the mini line into two & four port models now similar to how they have the MBP13 line split. With the four-port Intel mini remaining available that seems they will potentially offer a higher-tier version - perhaps when the transition the four-port MBP's over to ARM.Except the Mac Mini, which has two fewer USB-C ports.
Have you seen Dave Lee’s Thumbnails? Even Marques for that matter! One of the classiest thumbnails.I don't hate them individually, but I hate that someone like Rene Ritchie has dumbed down his content, makes these stupid looking thumbnails all in search of more views on YouTube. It's where the platform has gone, sadly. I say this as someone that subscribes to YouTube Premium because there is still loads of good content, but most of these tech reviews have taken a nosedive in the past year or two.
I need fundamental info, is it possible to plug through a USB-c docking station more than 1 display? I don't care if I can't have 4K resolution on both of the displays, 1080p is ok, but this is a showstopper to me for buying the new Macs.
The Mac Mini does (one over TB one over HDMI).And still, no one replied to my question. I tried to google it but the only thing I have found is an old post of a week ago.
Do the M1 Macs support a dual-display configuration? I'm talking about 2 external displays.
Figured you'd have seen the thread discussing that - External monitor supportAnd still, no one replied to my question. I tried to google it but the only thing I have found is an old post of a week ago.

The David Lee one is ok. He discusses benchmarks at least. The rest is reheated Apple marketing collateral mixed with some non-expert opinion and personality. Such a waste of time.Anandtech and the the MacRumors video review is the Tier One Pro reviews. These all seem like bloggers reprinting Apple Marketing fluff.
Yeah his was a great review. I hadn't come across him before as he says he's more into Apple phones than Macs. The David Lee one is ok. He discusses benchmarks at least. The rest is reheated Apple marketing collateral mixed with some non-expert opinion and personality. Such a waste of time.
Yeah it ain’t that simple. Code optimisation has seen reduced need for RAM as gains. Data files won’t see those kinds of gains. Video files etc.So excited for the Mac Mini M1. It seems M1 unified 8GB RAM easily translates to globally accepted 16GB. I guess the 16GB would translate into 32GB. So much about "the RAM on M1 is not enough".
My older ones did, too. My 16-inch? I open it and it takes some time before the screen comes on. Not sure what’s taking so long (another Intel deficiency?) but it’s nowhere near as fast as my iPad.I actually wonder about that, because my 2014-era Macbook Pro wakes instantly when I open the lid. So I don't know why Apple is pushing instant wake when it already has it.
