To introduce the new M4 iMac models today, Apple didn't hold a standard event, but the company did record a short keynote video to go through all of the machine's new features.

The announcement is themed just like one of Apple's full pre-recorded event videos, starting with a view of Apple Park that zooms in to Apple executives highlighting the M4 iMac's capabilities and once again walking through Apple Intelligence. The first four minutes of the video cover Apple Intelligence, so skip to 4:40 if you just want to watch the bit about the iMac.

Apple has three videos to share this week, so we can expect additional M4 Mac product announcements on Tuesday and Wednesday. We are also expecting Apple to release new M4 MacBook Pro models and M4 Mac mini models with a new design.

Pricing on the new iMac starts at $1,299, and pre-orders began today. A launch will follow on November 8.

Here is a good video of the new M4 iMac features. I was especially surprised to hear that this new M4 iMac was the first Mac to ever support an 8K external display at 120Hz. Also, all 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports should be full-speed 40Gbps ports (that are not on a shared Thunderbolt controller channel). The old M1 and M3 iMac models only had 2 Thunderbolt 3 and 2 USB-C on the 4 port models. Maybe all the M4 new Macs will have that?

New colors, really? Looks almost exactly the same to me. Boring pastels that are so light they all basically look the same. Same old 60 hz crappy display. So lousy!

Yeah, it seems they made most of the shades lighter, and the green is less teal than before, but other than that, they're barely different from the original colors. Framing that as "new color options" is a bit misleading. A new color would be a black or a bronze or a lime green. Not slightly adjusting the lightness of the existing colors.

I think the front looks the same pastel for most (or all), but the backs are not metallic anymore. I have the yellow iMac and from the back it looks more like a gold color, and remember seeing the red metallic with the pink pastel front, and it is now pink also from the back (the color option before was Red, and now it's Pink)

What’s with all these fruity colors? Why don’t they offer at least one sleek grey or black option with black borders.
I really don’t get it
Here you go! A Studio Display, coming right up!

32GB RAM Max. is so wack. Do these M series chips just use less RAM in general? 32GB Max is wild. I really thought it'd be 64GB.

I always thought that this generation of iMacs would look better if the solid color was featured for the entire computer. I hate that the cooler color (IMO) is on the back only. I want to appreciate that cool color. I know, I could use a series of mirrors to see the back side regularly, but I went Mac mini instead.
