They probably limit the RAM to 32GB to get you to buy M4 Pro or M4 Max Macs if you want more RAM..

In Apple's world you must buy a pro product for pro, semi-pro and serious hobbywork.

Yeah I get it :( It just puts me in an odd spot. I dont really necessarily need the compute power of M4 Pro or Max. But I do need the RAM. Sux the higher RAM options are still only for the higher end chips.

Currently using intel i7 from 2018 with 64GB of RAM and im currently using 50GB.

Still not a fan of the external power brick, especially the one with ethernet. "All-in-one" should mean all components in one package. It is just not an "all-in-one" when the power supply and ethernet are external.
I completely disagree. The ethernet port in my office is right next to the power outlet. With the current design there would be only one cable cable coming up from below the desk which is a lot cleaner than having multiple. If you really like the wires on your desk just go out and get a USB-C Ethernet adapater and connect it to the iMac instead.

Why do they keep comparing the performance to m1 and old intel when their previous generation iMac is m2. This is so stuipid it makes no sense at all. It’s like nvidia comparing their new rtx 4000 series with the old GeForce gtx instead of the rtx 3000 series.

Billions in r&d and army of top engineers and all they did after 2 years is swap out the cpu and added some new color…oh and a slightly better front cam

it's actually not a bad update.
I agree. M4, TB4, 16GB RAM, colored USB-C mouse/keyboard, matching backside colors, same price.
The Magic Keyboard and Mouse with USB-C look identical from the summary slide. Still charges from the bottom. Trolling behaviour.
You have to remember that it takes more than 9 years to redesign a product! I mean, it will take YEARS to envision where a charging cable could possible go on such a product!
What’s with all these fruity colors? is a great question. Certainly there are many folks who do not want fruity colors on their pricey computers. Personally I consider AIOs like iMacs a bad way to build a computer. All I can think of is that perhaps Apple market research shows that the kinds of users that like fruity colors (probably kids mostly) are the ones buying AIOs.
And there's a fine silver model for them.

The sensor and wireless stack on the Magic Mouse tested horribly 5 years ago and it looks like nothing's changed but USB C today, could someone just like take this product under their wing and start over lol

But why not get more people to buy it with one decent normal looking color for people that don’t want flashy fruity pebbles.
I assume making one more color isn’t a high cost thing for them but a design choice.

What is it with Mac employees trying to stand in the same pose as the head honcho?
Is that how you get noticed at apple?

It's the bow legs praying hands thing, right? - because Tim Cook does it - then I guess he expects his minions too.

Personally, I preferred the black turtleneck sweater jeans look over the shinny happy people semi-religious cult like look.

As for the iMac - meh.

Apple Intelligence? - typical Apple marketing, they can't be seen doing what everyone else is doing, they have to "own" it. Everyone else calls it Artificial Intelligence.

For me, it's all about the mac Mini - most bang for the buck and my M1 is getting a bit long in the tooth now.

My wife loves the iMac - owned them since the first one.
She took one look at this new one and was like "is that it?"
"Apple intelligence, what am I going to use that for?"

I told her the processor was a lot faster, but she was like "meh, the M1 is plenty fast enough."
I totally agree with her on that.
Also, that the AI thing is just OS level - her M1 will get it, when she upgrades, whether she wants it or not.

However, I've never liked them - whilst I appreciate the simplicity, I have more than one computer - but I don't want more than one monitor.

mac Mini hooked up to a large high quality LG? - it's nice.

Apple hasn’t built a decent mouse in 20 years. Which is baffling because they popularized the mouse in computing.

Another LAZY update with minimum efforts spent, getting harder and harder to defend Apple now.
Guess the update is just for AI + USB-C. Not bad in that respect, tho.
Just wondering: is it possible/easy to plug in a Windows laptop ?

I'm not saying it's better or worse - personal preferences of course will differ. I'm just saying it is, by definition of the plain words, not an "all-in-one" anymore.

where are the new mac minis? Or are there going to be new releases every day
Apparently new releases every day.

I'll be super annoyed if it doesn't get announced.

I'll be even more annoyed if it does get announced and is exactly the same design with an M4 slapped in it.

If it's got the same amount of ports and is close to the size of an Apple TV, I'll be all over it like butter on a hot potato.
For me, this is without doubt the only Apple product I've been looking forward to this year.

So far, this years releases from Apple have been completely boring - I really hope the mac mini bucks the trend.

32GB RAM Max. is so wack. Do these M series chips just use less RAM in general? 32GB Max is wild. I really thought it'd be 64GB.
No, it's just marketing. Instead of soldering the RAM chips far away, they are part of the SiP.
