For me, the better camera and the zoom lense make the pro worth it. The zoom lense alone is worth it for capturing family photos.

I'm a vocal USB-C naysayer here, but I agree this is a bigger disappointment year after year. It does seem like MagSafe is their new proprietary alternative to Lightning, which is a shame.

On the flip side, 15w charging is pretty darn close to the current 18w fast-charging wired speed. The Apple MagSafe charger looks dumb as heck, but if someone makes a Palm Pre style charger, where the phone is held at an angle and the charger has some weight to it so it doesn't lift off the table, that could be pretty slick.

The problem with using magnets alone for a car mount is it's really unsafe in a car accident. That 7oz/200g slab of glass and metal hurling through the interior of a car at driving speeds can cause serious injury in an otherwise benign car accident. I tell people that the rule of thumb is if you wouldn't want it thrown at your face by a major league pitcher, it should be held in place somehow in the car.
Yeah the mag safe looks neat but it doesn’t address the data transfer speeds for Sd cards over lightning

Still trying to figure out what the advantage of this new Magsafe is. You'll need both hands to remove the phone from the charger. Then why not use the Lightning cable and have faster charging than any inductive charger could provide?
You can charge and use EarPods once again just like the iPhone 6s :D

Agreed, and that's a very good point. I think by now it's clear Apple would tell you to use Wifi6 for high-speed data transfer. While it's not even close to USB3.0 speeds, it is materially faster than USB2.

That said, if the iPad Pro has had USB-C and it's high-speed data transfer for years now, there is no reason the iPhone Pro should not have this too.

I'm in love with the iPhone 12/New iPad Air design - I had an iPhone 4s and 5s and have always preferred the flat, squared off design vs the rounded design since iPhone 6. That alone is enough for me to upgrade! Though coming from an iPhone 8 it'll feel like a major upgrade finally going to FaceID.

As much as I love the old and old-is-new-again designs, I really thought the rounded-edge iPhones were just as, if not more, beautiful.

I really wish Apple would have made the HomePod Mini completely wireless. Why not incorporate the cool MagSafe charger into the bottom of it? Seems like the perfect pairing considering the Mini’s small, portable size.

The Mini should have been wireless, I agree. Maybe because it’s small enough where it’s portable for travel and other uses, where I think being battery operated, would have made this a stronger marketing point. I don’t think it detracts away that it is a ‘wired connection’, but it probably would’ve been an instant purchase for me if it was Portable, especially when the local competition has been offering wireless speakers in that size for years.

COVID actually made the iPhone 3% cheaper here in Germany. I am surprised they are giving the decrease of tax (19% down to 16%) to the customer and don’t keep it to themselves

That's VAT tax, no? (Mehrwertsteuer?)

The mag safe is really cool. It's one of those features I didn't know I wanted until I see it. I use my phone without a case, but have a case with a little card wallet glued to it for use when I want to just have my ID and a credit card with me and no wallet. The mag safe is perfect for this use!

I see that the conversion rate gap Apple (Apple Tax) is using for AUD is worse than when I bought my XR
The apple tax then was 5% in 2018
This year it is 12%, come on Apple don't be such a scrooge.

Correct me if I’m mistaken, yet if AUD is the abbreviation for Australia, man other than great people and beautiful country and incredible habitants and wildlife I’m sorry you’re like the 1ST/2Nd furthest country on the planet from any major mass produced electronics on the planet! Shipping is just a large distance costly it’s time consuming costly. Shipping by boat alone takes a millennium and by plane it’s like going back in time! Joking aside it’s super costly and a major distance on fuel costs to get there. Then there is tax laws. Maybe look into citizen tax laws for importing self purchased electronics by a local citizen brought in from abroad. Hopefully that helps.

Yeah you’re wrong AUD is short for Audi.

To be honest it looks like the previous iPhone 11 with a squared off case on.

Yeah I thought the same! On the products that you can buy, the two tiers of phones do not seem that differentiated from each other. My thought is maybe the iPhone 12 looks so good this year Apple might lose some 12 Pro sales, all OLED, all 5G etc. I Feel like pro-motion in the flagship devices might have given a little more differentiation & a bigger reason to spend more $$$. My X needs an upgrade & I'll probably just go for the standard model.
I agree, but they also brought the price of the 12 and the 12 Pro much closer together than the 11 and 11 Pro. There's not a lot of jump from 12 Mini -> 12 -> 12 Pro -> 12 Pro Max, but 11 -> 11 Pro was bajeesus!

That's true there was a noticeable price hike, guessing that's the better panel. That said the base config Standard 12 is ~ $260 cheaper than the pro in the UK (-£200) To me that's quite a lot extra for the telephoto and 64gb more storage (I sync pics to the cloud so never max out my 64gb X) & the pro is $390 more than the Mini. Quite fancy giving the mini a whirl my only concern is I'll miss the long lens, we'll see I guess.
