Great Performance

I've only had my Apple Watch 3 days.
But, so far, my battery life has been great! I always seem to have plenty of "juice" left (40 - 50%) by the time I put it in the charger before I go to bed.

I received my 38mm on April 27th and I've been real impressed with the battery life. I took my watch off charge at 7am this morning and it is now 11:53pm and I still have 46% life left!

It says my usage is 2 hours 46 minute and my standby is 17 hours 5 minutes.
I have had it on for 17 hours but I don't understand the 2 hours 46 minutes usage because I'm sure I didn't use it that much, but maybe with the steps tracking and everything? I don't know, but I do know I'm very happy with the battery life!

Edit: by the way. I had had hey Siri and heart rate disabled previously and assumed that added to the great battery life I was getting. This morning I turned both of those back on and it made no difference as you can see by my numbers! My brightness is set at 2.

First full day of using the watch after a full charge the night before. I took it off the charger at 8am and put it back on at 11:50 pm and I had 8% left. I had 4 hours and 27 mins of usage and 16 hours of standby.

I did have a fair amount of texts and using hey Siri, I even took two 1 mins calls each. I checked and dismissed a lot of notifications and even read and deleted mail throughout the day. One of the program's I use to instant message for work sent the majority of notifications so I disabled that and removed pretty much every app, except the Starbucks, delta and citymapper.

I removed the heart rate from glances, since I'm not using the watch to work out, and I'm going to hope for a better day tomorrow. I didn't not get nearly the usage that others are saying.

I don't want to have to remove the weather from the watch complication because I like seeing it there but I guess I'll try the modifications Ive listed above first, then try something else if that does not work.

This sounds pretty good to me and for the amount of usage you are using. It adds up to over 20 hours battery life with 8% left.

Just curious, 38 or 42?

Actually it's kind of weird how they (Apple) word that because the 4 hours usage is part of the 16 hours of standby. So...the watch was on for 16 hours out of which 4 hours were used.

My battery life seems great, my only problem is charging times. I'm not charging during the night because I use the watch for silent alarms in the morning, so I need to have the watch on me during the night. My girlfriend really appreciates how we are now able to have silent alarms on our hands not waking each other in the morning when we normally have different schedules.

I was a bit sceptical at first, but having the Watch muted is working perfectly, I'm fully able to wake up by the haptic feedback alone.

But this raises issues in-terms of charing, like most men I don't send a lot of time in the house during the morning. So at most I only have about 1-1,5 hours for the watch to charge before I leave the house. Most of the time my watch will be put on the charger at 08:10 until 09:10, so it has to be going for a full 24-hours between charges which resolves in it being around 20-30% before I start to charge it in the morning and then it only reaches about 80% charge.

It's sad to say it, but inductive / wireless charging is not that efficient.. This small of a battery should not take 2-hours to charge. Luckily I'm still getting through my 24-hour cycle on 80%.

In-terms of battery life I'm very impressed. I got the 38-mm version due to my small wrists (and it fits me perfectly, it's way smaller than I expected) and even though I started my day on only 82% yesterday it still had 78% left after my 48 min workout (outdoor cycling). And after playing around with it all day, receiving some notifications (I only have SMS, Mail, Telegram, Skype, Downcast, Messenger and Wunderlist turned-on) throughout the day and another 40 min outdoor cycling workout at the end of the day I still had about 40% left when I went to bed and when I woke up I had about 20% before I started charging it.

All this noise about battery life seems to be blown way out of proportions.

38mm here. Forgot to take it off last night having put it on at about 8am in the morning so, for the first time since launch day, I slept with it on my wrist. I woke up at 6am this morning and it was still at 40%.

Ok, so that's nothing amazing...but compared to the early predictions it's a nice surprise.

I work out for approx 1 hour a day, checking my heart-rate occasionally and listen to music directly on the watch with Bluetooth earphones. I get a few notifications a day (and a telephone call or two). I wouldn't say this is "light" use.

Charging time was great too. Was back to 85% within about twenty minutes.

My watch has started to be insanely rubbish when it comes to battery. I even did a full reset and it's still abysmal. Took it off charge at 7am and by 9 it was at 75%. I recharged the watch at 11am and now its back at 75% at 13:30! Usage shows 45mins...

Not sure what is happening and I have added stress with my iPhone 6 plus battery not lasting as long as it used to:( I might ask to return my watch and get a replacement!

I must admit, i'm really happy with the battery in the watch - i get a lot of work email notifications on top of all the others i have set up. Yesterday, took off charge at 7am - also did 80 mins of workout throughout the day, siri searches, the odd call, lots of texts and still had 18% at 23:00.

However, as my iPhone 6+ now has to have bluetooth constantly on, its battery usage is not as good as it was, and that is disappointing.

Something ain't right about that. I have seen about 4% per hour when it's just pulling down notifications and doing its normal stuff (with some but not much interaction from me - just some swipes and dismissals, no replies or calls or music)

I'd call tech support and see what's up.

Does everyone charge the watch overnight? Won't it wear down the battery charging it overnight every night?

Correct. Charging it every night does not cut down on its total available usage over time.

Only less battery usage can do that.

Have you tried removing all the 3rd party apps and seeing how that works?

1 day and 4 hrs of usage with 3.5 hrs usage and I just hit my 10% battery warning. Pretty darn good!

More then happy with my battery life!!
42 MM Sport
Off the charger at 630am it's now 1015pm
Usage 3 Hours 28 Minutes
Standby 15 Hours 29 Minutes

Since receiving my Apple Watch on Monday, my battery life has been excellent. I make it thru the entire day without a charge. Over 12 hours definitely. But there has been a couple of times where I would charge over night and it not reaching 100% fully. It's since been corrected doing that but I don't know why it wouldn't go to 100%... Overall, it's been great!

I must be wearing it wrong

I received my watch on May 7. Wore it until bed and then placed it on charge.

I awoke at 6:00a the next day (Friday morning) and put it on.

As of this writing, I have not had to put it back on the charger yet. This includes just removing for bed last night but not charging.

So far, 32 hours and have 30% battery left.

Edit: it is now 38 hours and am at 16%

I reset my watch and took off all of the 3rd party apps that were just downloaded to see what they did, so no loss really. I now have life back in my battery. Took the watch off charge this morning at approx 8am and have 39% left at 21:01. I have done two workouts in that time with one around 40mins and the other around an hour. I have also used it once for a call and to check emails, tap messages, text messages and my health apps.

Usage is at 3 hours, 48 minutes and Standby is at 13 hours and 16 minutes so far.

I'm guessing for some reason standby is calculated WITH Usage for some reason as my maths have the overall time off charge at approx 13hrs overall?

well it was 10pm and i had 2% left. consider that i didnt go on for like eight hours because of school.

I usually charge my 38mm after 36h with 30% left even when I try to use the watch more than I should...
