Very nice! Thanks for the inspiration. I've decided to make an overview (based on the Apple technical specifications, as provided on their site) with all models.

by this ill start looking for another by 10...maybe, in fact not sure what features it would need to upgrade...battery life is a given, most smart watches seem to have way better battery life but for some reason unlike their phones and ipads Apple doesnt seem to care much about battery life in the watches. Thanks for the inspiration. I've decided to make an overview (based on the Apple technical specifications, as provided on their site) with all models.
I do 2 years and sell for about half new price, then pick up one that is a month or so old that someone bought and didn't use for 2/3 of new price, have done it twice now, change over is minimal, less that 1/4 of a new one.I upgrade mine every 3 years as the yearly updates are barely worth it to me and they lose 50%+ of their value pretty much in the first 12-18 months. Its not like you get much value back towards a new watch if you wanted to upgrade every year. It’s definitely like the iPad in terms of not needing to be upgraded every couple of years I would say.
Well yeah, and I think it's done on purpose. Why the f**k would any average person want to 'uPgRaDe' their watch every 2-3 years? It's madness.why would you want to upgrade it?

Before Apple Watch, watches were a luxury item. A nice thing you treasure. If you spent £400 on a watch you were spending a LOT. It was rare for the average person.
Now Apple have made it normal to spend £400 and potentially even every few years.
People will resent Apple if they make too many large jumps. A watch is an item you love and wear. No other Apple product does that. You don't wear a MacBook, iPhone or iMac.
Apple have taken the correct strategy with the Watch. Most consumers will want to upgrade it only after 4 years.
My 5 shows no signs of upgrade with so, nice again what main stream product compares to not need needing upgrade for average way of life after 5 years…none that I know of.I’ve had a Series 4 for a few years now. Recently bought a Series 7 and returned it. The improvements just weren’t substantial enough to justify replacing my older watch. The always on screen seems mostly pointless and took off about 20% of the daily battery life.
My Series 4 battery is still doing just fine. I’ll upgrade when there is a significant update.
I don’t think they have to offer more.you are entitled to YOUR opinion ...
you got to offer a little more than a statement in your OP and then poopooing answers if you want to be taken serious - do you even own an AW? which model? what do you use it for?
Err… what?My 5 shows no signs of upgrade with so, nice again what main stream product compares to not need needing upgrade for average way of life after 5 years…none that I know of.
You’re wasting your life away on this stupid forum in just the same way that everyone else is. You know exactly why he ‘cares’.Why do you care?
Nice job. Thanks! Thanks for the inspiration. I've decided to make an overview (based on the Apple technical specifications, as provided on their site) with all models.
I won't, not yet anyway. I've used my series 5 for two years now, and it is still excellent and I love it. I don't see any reason at all to upgrade.why would you want to upgrade it?
That’s for a software update![]()

The Apple Watch Series 10 has received a design update with larger casings and displays but a thinner overall design, along with a new S10 chip,...www.macrumors.com
lol adding low power mode to try and make more upgradable...
"The Apple Watch's "all-day" battery life has not significantly changed since the launch of the original model in 2015..." yea we know, so why upgrade till you get it right....3 day min

Information I found online about the batteries says the Series 2 38mm had 273mAh, and 42mm had 334mAh.The battery life on both series 5 Apple watches I’ve had is vastly inferior to the series 2 I had prior.
I just upgraded from the 4 to the 7. You also forgot the onscreen keyboard, the better dust and crack screen, etc. yes I do use the onscreen keyboard sometimes.Eventually the small, incremental updates do add up over the generations. Determining if I wanted to upgrade from Series 4 to 7, I put this list together. The list was largely unnecessary, because outside of new headlining features that could be useful, for me the biggest reason to upgrade the watch is when battery life is no longer satisfactory. I'd always planned on a 3-4 year upgrade cycle.

Was for me.Agree with OP. Honestly, if I had to live without one apple product, I would probably choose the watch. It's a good product, but phone is so much more important and useful piece of hardware.
My series 4 model was just recently updated; still looks nice and runs nice, battery is about the same it was (I briefly charge it every morning). "Wake on wrist raise" detection is clunky and annoying from my experience though. "Always on" would be a cool feature to have, but def. not a reason enough to upgrade.

Compared to a Series 5 40mm at 245mAh, and 44mm at 296mAh.
A large part of the reason I upgraded to the 7 from the 4 was the increased battery. While I generally charge every day, if I'm on a weekend trip or away from home for just a couple days I'd rather minimize what charging equipment I have to take. With my usage now I'm generally at ~55% remaining at the end of the day, so I can squeeze out a full two days of normal usage, which was no longer possible on the aging 4.
