I’m on an S4. Battery health is at 85%, so still in “good enough” territory for me. Going to try to wait and see what comes of the S8 before either upgrading or replacing the battery.

This is where I’m at but with an s5. My wife has an S4, and I feel like I should upgrade hers because I like to stagger our purchases.

That’s amazing, how long have you owned and how often have you worn your S4? My S5 was a March 2020 replacement and is currently this:

I’ve worn it pretty much everyday and charged over night. The battery life is pretty awful and by 9pm it’s usually in its last 10%.

I’ve had it since March 2019, worn every day. Suppose I should consider myself lucky the battery is in as good of shape as it’s in.

Wow, that's a huge drop in less than 2 years. I say that given mine (AW S4) is 74% with the original battery.

you are entitled to YOUR opinion ...
you got to offer a little more than a statement in your OP and then poopooing answers if you want to be taken serious - do you even own an AW? which model? what do you use it for?

I own two. I started with a Series 1 and a 3. I then upgraded the 1 to a 6 and I might well upgrade the 3 to an 8 this year.

That’s about 5 years in between.

Well yes, it's his opinion. After all, everyone makes purchasing decision based on their opinions (albeit some with feedback from others). Nonetheless, the OP wants to stick to a 5 year cycle, that's fine.

I don’t know if the AOD had a significant effect on this model, but it’s definitely worse than my Series 2 was. My wife has a Series 4 and had it since April 2019, her charging pattern is the same as mine too. I’ll have to see what hers is like for battery health.

My S5 battery's health is so bad, it made an appointment for a checkup on it's on.

battery life, i have series 6 it kept dying too quickly when barely used , recent update seems good i can go all day working and have it at 67% so don’t know what was wrong with past few updates but seems good now but i can’t wait for the day when apple watch can last a whole week without charging

why would you want to upgrade it?
I've had a 0->1->4->5

My 0 to 1 upgrade was free due to a battery swelling defect.
My 1 -> 4 was because I was frustrated with how bad the 1 worked and hoped that the performance improvements of the 4 would make it a more pleasant experience.
My 4 -> 5 upgrade was due to dropping the 4 and shattering the screen.

My 5 is pretty scratched up now and if it actually broke I'm not sure I'd get another Apple Watch.
I keep waiting for vastly improved battery life or durability or something, but the 6 and 7 certainly were not it.

After all these years I pretty much just settled on using it as a fitness tracker and for displaying notifications as any other functionality I just found that pulling out my iPhone mini is easier/quicker. I can do stuff on it one handed, something you can't really do with the Watch. Even then I get low battery warnings pretty much every day (I do use workouts often - morning walks, evening walks, playing pickleball, going to gym etc.)
