I'll let you guys download and test first, as I don't feel like wearing a brick on my wrist. The update adds barely nothing of importance, unless "Improved performance for third party apps" means they'll actually run faster.

I didn't bring my charger with me to work, so I can only download but no install...

I downloaded but can't install until I'm home with the charger. I wish updates only required a certain battery level.

Better third party apps performance
Better Siri

Watch OS 1.01

Just updated. Took about 20 minutes. It says watch needs to have battery greater than 50% mine was at 74% but, it insisted I put it on the charger. Will let you know what I find.

It doesn't seem to matter.

"To install the update, make sure Apple Watch is:
-in range of your iPhone
-connected to its charger
-charged at least 50%"

Updated, performance is greatly improved. "Hey Siri" actually works now, the lag when going to the home screen from the watch face is virtually gone, and the entire watch is much more smooth. This is the software the watch should have shipped with...

thanks for the heads up OP!

it took approx 15 mins to complete between downloading/installing and its working ok, no bricking. never had any issues with siri before but tested ok after update so not much to compare it to other than it still works. espn app loaded a lot faster!!! although it only reference the update was for indoor cycling and rowing, i have my normal elliptical workout scheduled for later today and will compare it to yesterday's calorie calculations as those have been fairly consistent thus far.

uh oh, this thread is about to be closed because it's already posted in the news discussion forum that nobody reads. this ends the discussion.

No difference in third party apps (which can be slow)? I don't really use the other features in the release notes.

Not that I noticed. However, I have seen that going from the app screen to the watch screen is faster like JFazYankees said above. I've only used Siri a few times since I've had the watch (about a week now) but it always worked for me.

Before the update, Dark Sky would not load at all on the watch and now it does. yay! So that's good!

Downloaded and installed. Third party apps still take a while to load and performance (watch face to app drawer and back) seems the same. I'm not seeing the performance improvements many describe.

UPDATE: Maps app is working a lot better for me (scrolling and faster results)

Some definite improvements for me. Siri was quite patchy for me (sometimes holding the digital crown wouldn't even activate the feature), but so far that has been cured. What is very noticeable is that third party glances load in a fraction of the time they used to (down from 5+ seconds to <1 second).

Hmm, Apple's backend system must be getting hammered cause it's telling me it'll take 5 hours to download (and I've got a 100Mbps connection).
