I have upgraded to 7.3 on my Series 4 and it drains battery fast. I usually can use my Series 4 for ca: 24h+ but now I need to recharge within 14h...

All the best,

///Mike

My Series 6 is draining big time. I've had to charge twice today.

I'm not turning off background refresh because why should I have to?

This happened with 7.0 if I remember rightly so I'll give it a bit.

Apple Watch S4 + Watch OS 7.3. Haven't noticed any improvement really after the first day post upgrading.

But I noted that having switched off the handwashing notifications, I'm getting 8-10% more on my battery each day. Since I'm locked down at home anyway with no immediate end in sight (and it has lots of trouble recognising when I'm cooking instead of washing my hands), turning this feature off is not a big deal.

Bumping this thread to get some help.

I’ve got a brand new Series 6 (44mm GPS) running watchOS 7.3 and paired with an XS that seems to be experiencing all of the issues described in this thread.

This is actually the second one I’ve been sent — Apple swapped out the first one after I complained that I was consistently only getting about 6-12 hours of battery life out of it, even when doing absolutely nothing with it (no workouts, no dedicated audio streaming... nothing). I'm using a Chronograph Pro face with four complications (date, weather, rain, and reminders) and default settings: always on / handwashing / wake to raise switched on, etc.

But now it’s also happening with the second one they sent and I’m starting to get super frustrated.

I've tried unpairing / repairing / wiping multiple times, and each time I do I get a solid 20-24 hours of battery life out of the thing -- but only on the first battery cycle. After that the battery goes to complete garbage, often maxing out somewhere between 6-8 hours of battery life. Mind you, this is on DAY TWO of having the device, with virtually no activity.

I understand that I may need to give it a few days to settle, but I'm coming up on the two week return window and I don't want to cut it too close. My Series 2 - which I finally dumped two weeks ago because I couldn’t deal with the lagging OS and crappy battery life - lasted longer than my brand new watch on its worst day. And my wife’s Series 6 (40mm GPS) lasts at least three times as long as mine does in identical scenarios.

How accurate is it that I may experience inconsistent battery life (today it looks like I'm going to get about 12 hours out of it) for a few days after re-pairing, and how long should I wait before giving up on the thing?

I’ve got a short question. Would it be possible to get 2 days, so 48 hours of battery life with a series 6 40 mm with following usecase:
All notifications turned off, all background refresh turned off, noise listening turned off, o2 turned off, annoying hand wash, stand up notification, breathe notification and similar turned off. Only thing I want is: watchface with weather, date, some other info, constant heart rate measurements, workouts, about 1 hour a day. No gps required. Preferably OAD turned on half of the time.

I have AOD off own my AW5 and I get 48 hours of battery time. Best in a long time.
If it wouldn't be for the upcoming release that will allow me to unlock my phone from the watch I would not touch another update for a long time! Currently have the latest update 7.3.1

I think I may have solved this issue.

Battery drain in my case seems to be linked to the Reminders app, which took almost a week and a half to fully sync with my phone -- something I chalked up to the app just generally being finnicky and terrible, but that I rely on pretty religiously. But after about 9 days something clicked, my watch and phone's reminders fully synced, and my battery drain immediately disappeared. I'm now averaging about 3-4% loss per hour. Problem solved!

Not sure if removing the app would have sped up or resolved the issue sooner, but it may be worth a try for others who are struggling and maybe don't use it as often as I do.
