I’ve read several times that a non-cellular has a better autonomy. Makes sense, of course. If you use a WiFi-signal vs. a cellular signal, the latter drained the battery more.
I have a cellular watch but only use wifi. I wonder if it matters.

I have SS 4 LTE 44mm with 7.0.2 installed. I hate carrying my phone and need to be able to call or message when I'm running especially, if I get injured, dont feel well. or hurt on my runs. Nice to know I can call someone. 7.0.2 is the best working version I've seen on this watch; I don't think I'll ever upgrade my waych version again.

I pretty much have everything disabled/background refresh off on my watch except the things I need when I run or bike. I keep on, messaging, phone calls, workout, activity, and music. My last 20.5 mile run was about 3:30 hours/minutes with Workout Run tracking on, LTE on, airpods on playing a saved playlist and I had 39% battery life left. My watch is getting old too, 90% left on my battery.

I wont be upgrading my watch 4 yet waiting to hear about Watch 7. I dont think apple watch 6 is worth the upgrade unless, I break my watch.

An update on my issue.

I have a Series 5, and updated to 7.1 . After using for watch for about 6 hours (7:00am - 2:00pm) with no real use of the watch (or background use), I got a message that only 10% of battery life is remaining.

The strange thing is that this is not a daily issue. Sometimes, by day's end (7-8PM), I have 50% remaining. But other days, like today, I get 10% warning while still in mid-day.

I noticed that this issue happened more frequently after updating to 7.1

Glad to hear that 7.0.1 is improved.

Watch OS 7.1 Beta is still a hog for me. Getting below 40% which is 10% lower than Watch OS 6. And that's after setting up my phone and watch as new. Twice.
Updated to 7.1 and seems to be better as it's lasting above 40% so far (on an S4).

Today's update:
It's 3:10 PM. Had 100% at 7:30AM and now I am at 80% battery. Like I said, for a few days, battery life is fine, but sometimes I get the issue same as my previous post.

After updating to 7.1 I have noticed worse battery life than before. It isn’t as bad as it was on 7.0 but definitely worse than 7.0.2.

AWS4 the battery life is not good after 7.1. With 7.0.2 it was good. I've now woken up twice with watch dead. I don't even do sleep tracking. The number of hours between a 10% warning and going into low-power mode has drastically shortened. I don't know what the watch is doing to drain so fast now.

The last couple of days I had to charge My AW4 twice per day. Checked “Generel” - “Use” in the AW app, and Use and Stand-by time was exactly the same, little over 12 hours.

Fixed it by unpair then parring the watch again and now battery is back to normal again.

thanks. i've unpaired mine and re-paired it from backup. This seemed to help the massive battery drain.

My wife and I recently got 12 Pro Maxes. She was coming from an XS Max where we did the side-to-side wireless data transfer. Lately she has had massive battery drain with her series 4 barely lasting half a day.

Turns out, the watch somehow never transferred over to be paired with the new phone...meaning it was running on pure cellular most of the time. Once we re-paired it with the new phone, the problem was solved.

Well, since earlier this week, my Series 4 has started to have 25-40% battery left at the end of the day. Yay! It was previously depleting down to 0% around 5pm.
I’ve made no changes to any settings / watchOS versions recently so Apple must have fixed something at their end 🙂

for me I think it's become worse under latest, I used to be getting about one and half to 1.75 days use, but right now by 24 hours I'm down to about 20%

I was going to create a thread, but found this one.
My S5 barely makes it 23 hours straight now, and I used to get well over 30. I’ve un-paired and setup as new. Killed background app refresh and only installed a minimal amount of apps.
No improvement...

My battery health is 92%.

Yeah it’s still bad. With my Series 5 on OS 7.2 I can’t get a full day right now. Today it says my watch came off the charger with 100% at 6:25am and tonight I plugged it in around 10:00pm with 21% remaining.

My S4 was great before the 7 series upgrade, meaning I would recharge in the morning, and then get through the day and night (sleep tracking) without a problem. Once I started with OS7s, my battery life sucked. Last week, I finally went through and deleted every app I absolutely don't need on my watch (financial apps, travel apps--for now, etc), and now my battery life is pretty much back to where it was. I am EXTREMELY reluctant to do any more wOS upgrades for now. If it ain't broke...

downloaded 7.3 last night, didn't even restart watch, and so far life is better than it was on 7.2. normal use today for 10 hours and I'm at 69%. It usually goes down after overnight updates, but guess I got lucky on this one.

7.3 killed the battery life on my s4. I charged to full after update and 7 hours later the battery is completely dead. i Usually got at least two days from the battery, now I cant even go ten hours.

Been impressed with my AW 6 40mm so far. Updated to 7.3 last and carried on charging to 100%. I didn’t put my watch on but left on bedside table (off charge). 11 hours later this morning it’s on 98%. I didn’t restart it or make any changes. Will the battery life be even better after 7.3?? In any case it’s well above the 18 hours that Apple advise, getting over 48 hours between charges.
