Updated to Watch IOS 7 on my series 3

Went for a run yesterday and the distance didn’t track correctly and the map doesn’t show in the Fitness App.

Tested it against me whilst it tracked my walk, again the map doesn’t show.

Is this a permissions error? I’ve given everything permissions as far as I can tell.

This happened to me too. I started a run and it didn’t record distanc, i restarted my watch and started another run workout and this one recorded fine apart from the GPS map.

I just tried it again. It picks up the starting GPS location but nothing else.

Im using Apple Watch 3 & iPhone XR.

Frustrating!

Tested with Strava, from the phone it showed the map feature working but when transferred to the Apple Fitness app, the map doesn’t show.

Confused if it’s Apple Watch or Fitness app causing the issue.

There is something up as the Peloton app no longer shows your pace and distance when using a treadmill. It used to pull this from the watch estimates.

More likely it’s an internal issue with the OS, could be the app is trying to use a operating system feature but that’s not working correctly.

Same. Went for a 5K run just with watch, using workout app, no map. Went for a couple of walks using combinations of both just the watch and watch and phone, using workout app, no map.

Admittedly, I hadn't upgraded the watch to OS7 when I went for the run, but I had done my X to 14. However, when I tested it on the walks, I was on watchOS7. So to me, seems like it's an issue on the iPhone.

All other data recorded appears inline with what I'd expect from these workouts, just no GPS data, which is somewhat annoying as Strava needs that data to work out its achievements and what-not and I'm relatively sure that that run had some personal bests in it.

Just curious, which network are you using the LTE data on? I ask because I’ve had no data since OS7 came out with AT&T but can make phone calls.

I’m expecting my run this morning not to be recorded unfortunately.Maybe the recording flaws are due to not having lte data?

Don’t think data is the issue as I had my phone with me.

Also GPS doesn’t use any data so it’s possibly to run with your watch without a data connection and it should save all that same data

Gotcha I meant without the phone, since that is where I’m not receiving data on my watch since the OS7 update.

I didn’t know that about the GPS, thanks.

I had this exact issue since updating to watchOS 7; runs and walks would only show the start pin but not the route. I was on the iOS beta for months so it’s not iOS related).

The solution for me was to toggle off Apple Watch workout location services on my phone then toggle back on (I also toggled off then on location services globally)

Reading the above posts leans me to think it’s more an iPhone IOS issue as opposed to watch OS issue. Has anyone tried resetting their iPhone and restoring?
Someone on the peloton Reddit had a good point. All was fine on the iOS 14 betas and their problems didn’t start until they updated their watch also. I might log a case with peloton.

Where is this setting exactly, I can’t find it. You mean on the iPhone in the Watch app?

I've been the same, no problems on iOS 14 beta, only when I updated to WatchOS 7.

iPhone Settings / Privacy / Location Services /Apple Watch Workout

and the global on/off switch in location services
