Watch out for Iphone thieves!

I watched it. The first video was an ad, it wasn't real. Why did you give me the second video? It doesn't really apply. Also, I already said it was a joke.

what i was insinuating was that someone who does carry a knife must be intending to use it, or why would you carry it. If you pulled a knife on someone you would be arrested and charged with intent (even if you didn't pull it out and you were randomly searched, you would be arrested).
People who carry knives are mindless thugs, who have no respect for life.

True, but you wouldn't pull one randomly. You would pull one if your life was in danger. (Self-Defense). Also when would you be randomly searched without consent? Maybe at an airport? but you wouldn't bring a knife there obviously

Two words; Situational awareness

The sheeple errr people on the bus didn't want to get involved, that is understandable. He could have had a friend with him that would have jumped in had someone taken action. Getting killed for a cellphone isn't worth it.
I'd say most peoples thought process if any would be ' its not me and not my property that is being assaulted why should i help'

Sadly the few sheepdogs in world can't be everywhere...

If you carry a knife, I hope you get stabbed with it. If no one carried a knife, there would be no knife crime. You carry a knife, you planned your own funeral and no one should have sympathy for you.

Thanks man I appreciate it.

Don't you guys in the UK have to register your work tools and kitchen tools? Something about crimes with hammers, screw drivers, kitchen knives etc on the rise since they made machetes harder to get?

I'll stick to carrying Springfield Arms, and take my chance with 12 people judging me, much easier then 6 people trying to carry me :)

Say they get that knife/gun off you and use it to stab/shoot a kid... would you still have the same opinion. You may think you're a strong man who nobody can touch, but let me tell you, however big or strong you are, carrying a knife/gun shows your weakness.

There's so many possibilities that could lead to other being killed because of ignorant people like yourself. They shoot you with a tazer/gun and take your knife/gun off you, you haven't just killed yourself, but most likely some other innocent person.

No point in arguing, people like you always think your right. You want to try being a teenager that's growing up in London, then you'd learn carrying a knife/gun won't stop someone from sticking a bullet in your head when they see you've got a gun/knife.

I guess carrying a knife/gun makes you feel like a big man, all I can say is I hope you're the one that it gets used on instead of some kid or innocent person somewhere down the line.

So the guy's iphone was never stolen? I want to bet the attack was something entirely unrelated/gang related (IE gang initiation etc). This seems like typical news media hysteria to me.

I'm amazed that some of you would just give your Iphone to a punk like that?
nothing personal but I would rather go down than seeing this punk take my possession, to me is not so much the value of the phone but an opportunity to teach tugs a lesson and learn to respect others!
let the flames begin......:cool:

You, Sir, are an ignorant fool. I carry a knife daily, and I save lives. A knife is a tool, but i wouldn't expect narrow minded idiots like yourself to understand that.

I'm sick of seeing bus videos where no one does anything... including the driver.

Why should they risk their own ass for so little pay these days.

Probably be fired for failing to follow policy and let the police handle it.

There is a camera that will help catch the thief, though door cams to catch the faces might help.

But lack of high definition digital cameras does prove to be a hindrance.

I agree. I carried a knife with me on my person for 4yrs straight and didn't kill no choir boy, didn't kill anyones son/daughter. I used it for work and I worked on an Air Force flight line. I even carried that knife into the BX.

A knife is a tool. Same as a hammer, axe, screwdriver, saw, and countless other objects that have ALSO been used as weapons. It's only definition is by the person who carries it.

I also don't see a problem carrying a knife for self protection provided it's within the confine of the law. If need be I'll stab a thief in the eye with my swiss army keychain knife!

I for one am thankful I'm not narrow minded like some people.
The simple golden rule in my book...
"<Insert concealed object here> don't kill people, PEOPLE kill people"

Try to take my iPhone and you'll end up stopping by the emergency room before you goto jail. And bet on not being able to walk again after I slit the achillies tendon of yours. In that video that kid had the victim down and the victim was in striking distance of that tendon.

I have a lot of respect for life... ESPECIALLY MY OWN!

Blah, now I'm rambling. Time to leave this railroaded thread.

I'd hardly consider everyone that carries a knife to be a mindless thug and have no respect for life. I think the original point is that you never know when you'll need it and in some cases it can be used to defend yourself especially if you feel your life is in danger. I carry a knife with me most of the time and I'm a college graduate. I'd hardly consider myself a thug, but work on the philosophy you'll never know when you'll need something.

all i'm going to say is that a knife is a lethal weapon, and that I believe someone's life is more important then me having my iPhone. I would not stab someone if they tried to rob me, as i would more then likely get it back from insurance.

They're both from a new ad campaign in the UK. The first one isn't real, but it's about as real as it gets. Notice the guy who got attacked, was the one who drew the knife. He then got stabbed in the neck. This isn't government propaganda or people getting on their high horse - it's fact: carry a knife and you're more likely to get stabbed. That answers the 'self defense' argument. The second video does apply, it shows you what happens as a result.

Finally, this 'life is in danger argument' - that's called escalating the situation. Bringing any weapon whatsoever (even a bic biro) escalates a violent situation to a very violent one, and the risk of someone being hurt consequently increases. The more serious the weapon, the more serious the risk. None of this 'if they come near me I'll [insert very specific injury using very specific object struck at just the right time]' s**t that I've been reading throughout this thread. NO. It doesn't work like that, at all.

I appreciate you didn't mean it seriously, however I also get the impression you don't have the experience yet to make a safe assessment. And I wasn't targeting you, it was just your post was the best one to link to the videos.

First of all, I haven't seen these ads, but if you carry a knife, and you pull it out, you better be willing to use it, if you're not, you shouldn't have pulled it out. Otherwise you may in fact get stabbed with your own knife.

The "my life is in danger" argument is a valid argument, because if my life is being threatened there is no other option out of the situation, I am going to neutalize the threat, by any means neccessary to ensure that I'm still alive at the end of it, whether that is by lethal force, such as a pistol, or a knife.

I have no regard for someone else's life who wishes to take mine.

Also: I'm assuming you're from the UK ?

Otherwise you may in fact get stabbed with your own knife.

There's no 'otherwise' - If you pull a knife you're very likely to get injured with your own knife, not 'well you might get injured if you don't.'

Don't get me wrong, if someone is trying to kill me then I'll do what I can. But that's a very different situation to what I'm talking about - what I'm seeing being put across here is 'take my iPod and I'll stab you' - they're two very different situations.

Also: I'm assuming you're from the UK ?

Yep, but that's not the point. The point is there are loads of very prideful people here boldly claiming what they can and will do to people. I've yet to see anyone post actual real-life experience of managing violence, and the specifics of what they are going to do is laughable.

Also, it would be worthwhile for you to obtain the statistics of deaths and life-changing injuries from knife and gun crime, proportion them across the two countries and then post back and tell me 'your way' is better. I'm not bothered about the differences in your law and our law - using that as a justification to carry a weapon belies the facts of what happens when you do, and shows you're completing missing the point.

When you say "gun crime" are you saying crime that was committed with an illegally owned firearm? Or are you talking about legally and illegally owned firearms all in a broad generalization, because it would ignorant of you to combine the two together.
