Hip-hop is a valid genre. Not for everyone, but no less filled with creativity and talent than any other genre. The performance was pretty good, if you ask me, even though I don't gravitate towards that genre myself. I did enjoy it!
I love hip-hop. I haven't watched a super bowl since Brady's last, but woke up for Dr. Dre's (it's in the middle of the night here), just for the half-time show, and rewatched it countless times. But always skip Kendrick's part. I guess I'm just too old for his music.

He's not my genre but I can't deny his talent and... I don't get the strong grumpy-old-man vibes in this comment section. This place is usually more open-minded than this.

To those who say "this is not music NFL fans like"... no s**t.
NFL fans already watch the show, they want to attract different people. I'm european, nobody I know has ever watched a single football (american football) game, yet everybody talks about the Super Bowl because it's more than a game.

To those who say "kids this days..." just cut that. Unless you're into Bach or something like that, I can guarantee someone has thought the very same thing about music you like at some point. And you surely haven't changed your mind because nostalgic man told you to.

Sigh so many Macrumors comments are incredibly out of touch. Most millennials would consider Kendrick a GOAT. And even younger fans recognize Kendrick as both an incredibly technical and potent storyteller. I listen to other rappers but for anyone who's been on the internet, you know how big this moment and the messages Kendrick delivered to the nation and Drake.

Yeah, Macrumors could have added some context for boomers the hype for this show was crazy considering the Drake?Kendrick beef. It's probably a top 10 in hip hop moments even tho I listen to other TDE rappers and not really Kendrick.

Those who live in glass houses…
I hope Kendrick has no skeletons in the closet.

I love Kendrick, but it was so boring. The people I saw it with couldn't wait until it was over. Next year, perhaps someone a little better suited for the platform. Heck, even Drake, lol, or god forbid, Fergie would have done a better performance.
Fergie? Anyways… she can’t even sing the National Anthem 😆

100% agree with the rest of your comment, but on this one bit... you must be new here? A large contingent of the crowd here is very excited to let you know that they don't like various artists (especially female artists, for some reason), when there's any mention of them in at article - even when it's legit coverage of Apple business, like Apple TV+ releasing a Billie Eilish special a while back. Like, the article wasn't "do you like this kind of music?", it was "Apple TV+ is doing this thing" (being reported a site that you go out of your way to visit to hear about things Apple is doing). She's not the only one - just the first example that comes to mind - it's come up lots of times over the years.

There are lots of people here who are very concerned that you might not know that they do or do not like a particular artist or performance, and feel the need to inform you.

Exactly the same here.

I was on this site before the first iPhone :D
But now that you mention that, I rarely read stuff about music, so I'm new to this kind of debate in here, you're right.
In general, this is a better place than most of the internet, so I didn't expect this kind of hate, especially about something that everybody should recognize as subjective...

Adults? Can you remind us please, what is the minimum legal age for watching football?
Some grown-ups just feel the need to let people know they're grown-ups, they're not babies anymore, and things they like are just better.
So mature.

Missed it live and have no interest in seeing it. I am not at all tempted to listen to a song that is part of a schoolyard fight between two "adult" rappers. What a load of childish nonsense and the media reports on it like it is serious news. Great times...
Feuds have been a part of art forever and they're a big part of hip-hop culture.
Dante used to exchange insulting poems with a friend, he once told him that his wife was getting cold because he couldn't keep her warm in bed.
One may argue that fighting with well crafted verses is a very adult way to fight.

I don't know anything at all about hip-hop and I really enjoyed it. The lyrics were fantastic and the dancing was fun to watch.

It's funny because other corners of the internet I'm on have been universally praising the performance.

I suppose adults aren't all that interested in a musician with a Pulitzer prize and 22 Grammys?

I would be interested in a halftime show if They Might Be Giants or Weird Al were performing. Otherwise, in almost all cases, I would pay to NOT watch the halftime show.

I was happy the Eagles won just so we weren't subjected to more Swift garbage.
Why would you pay to not watch something? Even if it’s something you’re not into. Waste of money.

RIP my team, lol.

I guess there is a reason that nobody has ever three-peated in the NFL. It's a tough league. Was still a great season. Hats off to the Eagles for playing out of their freaking minds in this game. The Chiefs just didn't feel like they wanted it badly enough. And with so many players with rings, I guess that makes sense. It was disappointing, but I'm not upset. I've been a Chiefs fan since I was 8, went through a 22 year playoff win drought, and this is more than I ever could've hoped for.

They still have some football left so I wouldn't be surprised if they were back there next year. You still have the best quarterback in football (imo) but they definitely need some slight retooling. Kelce probably needs to hang it up as he was a glaring hole in their offense all night.
