Strong middle-aged dad energy in these comments lol

I’m not a Kendrick fan particularly, but he’s clearly hugely popular and the show whilst not ground breaking was on par with most other half times. It was certainly very slick, Sam Jackson popping up perfectly in all the right places etc.

Anyway, nothing will ever top Prince’s appearance. It was perfect. I still watch it back every so often.

I can't believe I forgot to listen to it live on Apple Music One. You stop listening for a few days and it's easy to forget it exists, even if you been listening to it daily. I suppose listening to radio is not very engaging.

The show was boring. I want to have fun at the Super Bowl. I stopped caring about this beef last summer. They still doing it. 🤦🏾‍♂️ I guess that explains why it feels recycled. Had Kendrick stuck to the most of the other non beef related hits I probably wouldve loved it. I actually like his flow. I just think the show was boring and too negative for the Super Bowl which is supposed to be fun.

There was a time when artists like the Beatles were viewed the same way people view hip-hop today. And nowadays, most people view those as classics. Same probably will happen to this era of hip-hop 50 years from now.
Hip hop has been mainstream for 30 years, there was never a time when the Beatles were viewed like this. Rock n’ roll maybe, but not the Beatles, they went straight from being top of the charts to being classics and stayed there.

Hip hop was top of the charts in the 2010’s and early 2020’s, now it’s on a decline.

For old people and country fans it might still be the hip underground music they choose not to call music but that is just because they never registered the rise and fall.

I was expecting at least some fireworks or pyro effects at the end of the performance.

Maybe it's because I am not American, but I never understood the obsession with this half-time show. This is a professional sports event, right? I have been to a couple of European football (aka soccer) finals. The only thing I would use the half-time break for is taking the consumed beers to a public restroom. Then, I would continue to care that "my" team wins. Who cares who sings/dances in the break?

Missed it live and have no interest in seeing it. I am not at all tempted to listen to a song that is part of a schoolyard fight between two "adult" rappers. What a load of childish nonsense and the media reports on it like it is serious news. Great times...
you realize like 90% of the show wasn’t about that right? lmao

anyway. the general cultural ignorance in this thread is shocking to me—sorry, just calling a spade a spade—the whole show was steeped in symbolism about Black Americans’ interaction with American culture & history (did Samuel L. Jackson playing Uncle Sam go over yalls head? I know yall watched Pulp Fiction) & Kendrick’s whole thing is maintaining the sportsmanship of rap music, which was kinda lost over the last 15 years with Drake making pretty cookie-cutter pop-rap stuff. (it’s a sport in Black culture that’s taken almost seriously as…wait for it…football!) would it not be fitting for him to celebrate that sportsmanship at the biggest sporting event of the year?

culture is important, especially for folks who have been historically marginalized in any institutionalized way. and if it’s not the culture you’re into, whatever. would rather any given person focus on the culture that brings them some sense of joy in a chaotic world. just think it’s worth it to be educated on cultures other than one’s own in a time where we are so globally connected

2020 halftime was the best for me since I know the songs of Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. I only watch the halftime since I'm not interested in football each year, but it's not my type for the past few years.

The WHOLE performance was awful & described by all as boring.
Totally agree. Can’t even understand what the singer was saying. Time to bring back classic bands or some other star, who is not R&B. The last three Superbowls half time shows have been similar. NFL needs to mix it up. You are the Superbowl, so act like it and only have major bands/stars perform.
