I know, right? The word 'gate' should be a banned word.

When I got to the entrance to my hood the gates were not working. Looks like I'm having some Gategate.

Mods should add xxxgate to the list of censored words so we never have to see it.;)

My serious response would be "screen burn in-gate." My friend had an Android phone with an OLED display (the same type that's used in the Watch). After six months her screen had a permanent ghost image of her keyboard and status bar. It was like a faint, constant halo over whatever content was presented on the screen. I really, really hope that the OLED display manufacturers have fixed this problem, or Apple will have its biggest "gate" yet.

gate-gate

Gate-gate is the one where Melinda's husband is spotted in the wild wearing his :apple: Watch.

The way the sport band snaps together makes me very worried about how secure it is. It looks like it's just being held on by the little metal bump, there's no buckle or anything.

Have you tried it on? The "tail" beyond the metal bump tucks into a slot and under the band so it's a bit more complicated to pull off and definitely harder to have fall off.

Whatever it turns out to be, you can be sure MacRumors will be leading the brigade to cash in on the page views.

As I pointed out in a recent thread, there were 500+ pages of discussion in the forums accounting for thousands of page views on Bendgate.

After the latest news derived from last night's sudden change in Apple's home page, followed by a company email from Angela Ahrendts, I think it's official:

Grab your virtual pitchforks, because #LaunchGate is here.

Finally its here and you enjoy every moment of its unboxing (even though you watched a vid of that some hours before)

Am I the only one who has neither ever watched an "unboxing" video nor has any desire whatsoever to do so in the future?

Just can't wait five years from now when preorders for the CAR are delayed by a half a year...
The Order Status page says "Processing, Delivers August 2016 - February 2017" and the $45,000 preauthorization on my credit card just fell off, should I be worried? I got the Space Grey Sport Model with the Modern Leather Bucket Seats...

You know the drill by now. You've lusted for the new Apple tech for months, read every last bit of info, you've ordered it...you are ready!

Launch day arrives and you wait (im)patiently for the courier to arrive. Finally its here and you enjoy every moment of its unboxing (even though you watched a vid of that some hours before), lovingly sniffing the plastic inserts (just me?) before powering it on.

After a brief play you turn your attentions back to the internet to read a bit more about your new toy only to discover.......there is a new 'gate' and the internet forums are going wild! After digesting this new info you will realise that you never noticed this issue, but after having read about it online it will CONSUME you from this point forward. Jealous Android owners will snigger at your new purchase with comments such as "Oh is that an Apple Watch? I heard it insert alleged problem here". You will curse Apple online and off and insist that this would never have happened if Steve were alive! Curse you Apple! Then when the dust settles you realise that this particular gate has been greatly exaggerated or Apple will (as they always do) replace it for you with no hassle whatsoever. It will go on to do very well and people with love it. It will become a part of a persons everyday life just like the Mac, iPhone, and iPad have. Then we look forward to the next gate...

SO, lets predict what 'gate' we will stress over this time, faulty screens? non responsive crowns? exterior damage to the strap or body of the watch? or a good old fashioned flaw which armchair experts will insist needs a hardware recall only to be fixed by a software update 2 weeks later?

There is ALWAYS a gate, what will WATCHGATE be?! The person who predicts correctly will win a 27" Retina iMac*

* lie

the idea of trying to fool people into playing your sick speculated game is unreal. the product isnt out and you're wanting people to guess negatively on what others will say is wrong with this revolutionary product. the idea that its finally coming isn't enough, so we have to start talking about what will be wrong with it? sorry but first, you're not giving away anything for free, and second, lets just hope its a great watch and enjoy it.:apple:

The best so far are:

golden-gate (very little gold, mostly copper)

water-gate (screen fogs up in the shower)

The first complaint will be scratch-gate (screen on sport models and bands)

Wait a minute, this could actually be the year of an Apple product Water-gate that people have been joking about! Tim Cook claims he showers with his Watch on, so a bunch of customers start doing it.

Watch becomes ruined, customers try to exchange Watch or send it in for repairs, Apple says that heavy water damage is not covered, people complain, media coverage. Bam! Watergate!

we all know there'll be that guy that tries to smash it on day one and post picture of it all over social media crying about it

Bam! Warranty claim! It's spec'ed as IPx7.

Notice how I said "heavy water damage is not covered". IPx7 is a rather low water resistance. If there was heavy water damage to the watch, it would be quite clear that one didn't just simply "wear it out in the rain".

Anyway, even if Apple DID cover heavy water damage, I'm sure there would still be media coverage blowing it out of proportion and calling it something-gate.
