I definitely will. I wanted to pick it up today, but the book store was closed already. It happens on Sundays!

I think I will go see it again though. I liked being in that world for almost three hours.

I'll probably go see it again too, though I'm not completely psyched to see it again like I was when I saw The Dark Knight. I agree with what you say though, the ideas presented in the alternate reality is the reason for visiting Watchmen, whether if it is for the first time or a second or third. Some of changes to our reality seem so authentic - such as Dr. Manhattan not seeing a reason to wear clothes (I mean seriously, why would you?) or a character that has erectile disfunction unless he feels the power that comes from being suited up as a super hero.

Exactly- all that stuff was really fascinating. That's the reason I liked it.

OK- got the book yesterday. Can't wait to get into it! The movie has actually invaded my dreams. That's a sign of a good film, or at the very least, an impressive film.

OMG!! what a terrible movie I wish i could have the money and time i spent on this movie back, I don't think i've sat through a more boring and terrible movie in my life. wow so much hype for this atrocious piece of cr*p..... It's the first time in my life that i saw almost half the movie theater empty out before the movie was over. you can tell everyone was bored out of their minds. Everyone i know shares the same sentiment about this movie. My friend who saw the show before me was trying to call me and warn me but i didn't hear his voicemail until after the movie. Again this movie was GARBAGE!!!!

Ever hear of grammar? It's your friend. :)

And I'm not saying this to be mean, but how old are you? You sound as if you aren't old enough to see R-Rated movies.

I did not like the movie at all. Probably in part because I was deceived by the trailers. I was expecting a LOT of action, but was sorely disappointed. I didn't know anything about watchmen prior to seeing the movie. I can see where you'd like the movie if you've read and enjoyed the books. For an outsider though, it just didn't work. The only part I really liked? When Rorshach says "I'm Not Stuck in Here with You, You're Stuck in Here with Me". Well, that and pretty much anything from the Rorshach in prison part. Otherwise I was fighting falling asleep the whole time...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously, I can't believe anyone would get in a flap over a little nudity in a film. If you can't handle it stick to PG rated things ffs.

I saw it without reading it and thought it was good. I liked the pacing. It gave me time to really sink into that world. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it, actually.

I'm old enough, sorry if i offended you by expressing my dislike for a movie that you enjoyed. causing you to attack my grammar and my age. I fail to see what part of my post would give the impression that i'm not old enough to see an R-rated movie.

and as long as we are handing out advice, how about you not preface an insult with the words "I'm not saying this to be mean".... It's like telling someone "I'm not doing this to hurt you" before proceeding to punch them in the face.

Your post was rambling and had little, to no punctuation. Our younger members here tend to be wanting in the area of grammar. And I wasn't saying it to be mean. You sounded young, and I was hardly offended. Chill out.

A friend of mine is a massive, massive comics/graphic novel nerd...he takes these things waaaaaaaaaaay too seriously (IMO) and he's been mopey for days about certain changes made in the story for the movie adaptation.

He's even pointed us to a (admittedly funny) YouTube video of what happens when Hitler finds out about the changes to the new movie. Dork. :D

I've heard from others that it was a good film, but I'm not much of a moviegoer, so I'll probably pass.

Great movie! Kudos to leekohler, P-Worm and Gelfin for already posting an explanation better than I could.

I loved The Watchmen! It was truly a great movie. I never read the graphic novel but plan to pick it up in the near future. I can see how some people wouldn't like it. Primarily, people with short attention spans....this is not a full on, mindless, superhero action movie. It is a very deep movie. It's full of many characters, complex stories and significant backstory. It's a very rich and thought provoking movie. It makes you think. I went for a midnight showing on Thursday/Friday and laid in bed for over an hour thinking about things...that's a sign of a really good movie. I was dead at work on Friday...

I'm definitely going to see this in the theaters again. There were some confusing things. But much of it is supposed to get expanded upon in the eventual 4 hour extended cut DVD/Blu-ray release. As for the male nudity...I'm straight and was fine with it. The hypocrisy involved with many people is astounding since many of the same people have no problem with full female nudity....Male nudity is a problem but female nudity isn't?

Oh, I also loved the sheer amount of alternate history people/cameos in the movie. There were so many perople, things and references to see in the movie. The attention to detail was amazing.

Good news about the four hour cut. I hadn't heard about that. I think it definitely would benefit from that. Longer is better in the case of this film. I'm probably going again as well.

Personally I didn't enjoy the movie. It could be for a few reasons, I was a bit tired prior to seeing the movie so I fell asleep and didn't get the whole movie/storyline. secondly, the people behind me would start to giggle whenever mr. m would appear [seriously, its just a penis, cripes!] and then someone else had really smelly shoes and I could smell it, so I was a bit nauseous. and then the last reason, i had to admit that I thought it was a different movie which is totally my fault, I thought it was supposed to be the avengers

But I liked some of it, I just can't imagine sitting through another 3 hours, but I can't do that with any other film either.

Smelly feet are the worst.

Reading some of these replies, I've got to say, Warner Bros could probably have done a better job of marketing this film.

Sure, it's making loads of money, but it's not your average super hero movie which it seems most people who haven't read it expected (and who can blame them, with the super hero types and the DC Comics logo and all that jazz?).

But it's as much a super hero movie as "V for Vendetta" or "From Hell" were (two other Alan Moore adaptations), neither of which was about action and men in tights as much as social commentary.

Agreed. For me, the problem was not with the movie itself, rather the marketing of it. I enjoy a lot of movies that don't have much action, and instead focus on a great story line. But after seeing the trailer, I expected a lot of action. And, really, a lot more emotion. Or, well, at least exciting emotion. Maybe it was just that the big blue guy had no emotion and that bothered me a lot. (Yeah I know he technically had emotion, I remember that part of it) but it was annoying that he never had any facial expressions and almost had a monotone. But, whatever, that is of no matter - my point is the trailer drew me to a movie that it wasn't.

And also I probably do have ADD :D

I saw the movie last night and thought it was great. Really well done. Characters were well developed and complex and still had a good comic book feel to it. A night well spent in my opnion :).

Agreed. It was a nice/weird world too escape to. I'm going again this weekend.
