They’ve had a patent - and working demo - for under display fingerprint for years.
Having a patent and a working demo, though, is a long way from “having a supplier provide 200 million in a one year period”, or even “reliable in most reasonable use cases”. But those patents may yield follow on patents that are actually worth cost effective to implement AND more reliable, like

You’ll post a detailed comparison without using it? :D Maybe just post it now then?
I can’t compare my wife experience with WatchOS 9’s accessibility double pinch to a couple of bullet points about the Series 9 / Ultra 2. Once someone with the newest watches shares a thorough write up or video, I can compare based on those.

Working on my iWatch Ultra first gen

This feature isn't available on the first gen Ultra. There is an Accessibility Feature which some people are confusing. That is available on the 1st gen Ultra and the 2nd gen. Double Tap is only U2/S9.

There is no iWatch from Apple. :)

That's funny, I already get a pop-up asking to clear notifications, which disappear after a double tap! 🤔
I just checked my WatchOS. I’m on 10.0.2 and don’t have AssistiveTouch turned on in Accessibility, yet I can double-tap to dismiss notifications. Is anyone else able to do this? 🧐

On the beta program the first gen Ultra has received a double tap accessibility for dismissing notifications. It responds to single tap, double tap and clenched fist. It works for calls and other functions to the user

That’s been there since Watch OS 7 or Watch OS 8.
