A minimum of at least 1 year from now. They haven't even finished rolling the first watch to all the countries. I would expect fall 2016 for the earliest, but probably not till spring or fall 2017. And probably will be Apple Watch S and not Apple Watch 2.

I think it may be called Apple Watch. I can't see them keeping the old internals to sell an older version at a cheaper price. It's fashion as much as tech.

Apple has form. iPad 3 and 4 weren't called that when they came out.

Apple Watch S implies same body, updated internals. (Same as iPhone)

Apple Watch 2 implies redesign. (Same as iPhone)

I personally believe they will carry over the non "s" and "s" on the watch from the iPhones. Since it's just an extension of the iPhone and not exactly a stand alone product. But I highly doubt there will be released annually like the iPhones. Two years is what I expect. That way any design lasts basically 4 years.

*cough* ipad 4 *cough*

i agree with you on the life cycle. i'm just not sure they'll ever call it an "s" (or even bother with one) because most of the things they tout - faster graphics, more processing power - in an S iphone are mostly irrelevant to the watch. new sensors may need a redesign and deserve an apple watch 2 name. but if they don't sell the old apple watch, why call it apple watch 2? why not just call it apple watch?

There can definitely be updates to the internals in say an "s" version Apple Watch. The S1 chip could be updated to S2 just like A chips update in iPhones. Sure it doesn't "need" to be an "s" model for that bit the major leaps come in "s" models (an example is the A6 to A7 was massive, where the A7 to A8 wasn't as big. Same goes for A8 to A9 is a big leap again on the "s" model.) I doubt there will be a redesign until the S3 chip.

On OS1 i would do (for example) 20 minutes fairly high intensity on the cross trainer and get active calories of about 150-200, on OS2 i get 90-100 at best. This is quite annoying, but maybe is more accurate
Yeah it's definitely changed. I always thought the calorie count with OS1 was way too high. My resting calories are much lower and seem more realistic now, though they're probably now a little too conservative by about 100 Cal. Active calories have dropped too but not by that much. Overall it seems to be a big improvement.

I also noticed on OS2 just walking about during the day seems to count a lot towards my exercise goal, whereas on OS1 it rarely registered more than 1 or 2 minutes. Now its more like 10-15 minutes.
Same here, walking to my local supermarket I used to get maybe 3 mins now it's around 12 mins. I'm not a slow walker so I'd call it an improvement.

Hey, how is the Workout app doing? In 1.0.1 it always gave me inaccurate running distances, even though I had my iPhone with me.

Anyone noticed big changes with calorie calculation in the workout app with OS2 GM? On OS1 i would do (for example) 20 minutes fairly high intensity on the cross trainer and get active calories of about 150-200, on OS2 i get 90-100 at best. This is quite annoying, but maybe is more accurate - i don't really know. As a side note, anyone upgrading to GM please learn from my mistake. I did not realise all health data is only backed up if you use encrypted backup in iTunes. After restoring to iOS9 and the most recent backup i lost all my health data & achievements, including filling all rings every single day since launch :(

I really hope they keep the same design, but maybe make the body thinner, if possible. Not that the thickness is a problem at all, but I'd really appreciate it if my £200+ worth of extra bands I've bought still fit!

I love my Apple Watch, I literally use most of the features every day. Apple Pay has meant I never take my wallet with me, and it's such a thing of beauty (AW SS with leather loop, link bracelet, milanese, sports band...)

"The new iPad" and "iPad with Retina Display" respectively.

It's about your heart rate. A brisk walk that gets your heart pumping a little will register as a exercise for however many minutes your heart is beating faster. I watched this closely on OS1 and it's the same on OS2. The real question is do you have your band on nice and tight or loose? That could affect the reading.

I believe the Watch will be released on a 2 year cadence and the design that we see now will be the design going forward for many years to come. Apple will not turn around and make a circle shape watch so the only thing they can really do is change up internals, add newer sensors, go thinner, and change casing materials. Adding a camera is a possibility too but I think that would be over the top.

The Apple Watch 2 will be out in early 2016 I would bet my house on it......

The sales of the watch will continue to slow down month by month as more people are waiting for Watch 2
Apple is way to smart to wait

Has anyone noticed that on the GM message notifications are excessive? I could be in the message app on my phone with the screen on but my watch will still notify me. It's extremely annoying. Has been driving me up a wall all day. I've reset both the watch and the phone to make sure my watch is seeing my phone and it is. I've done everything but unpair. Gonna do that next week when I get my 6s.

I haven't noticed this occurring. Have you tried completely un-pairing and re-pairing your Watch with your iPhone?

No. As mentioned above I'm not going to do that till I get my new phone and have to unpair to make a backup. I'm hoping that will fix it though. It's obnoxious. It's just weird. This is day 4 with the GM and it didn't start till today. No issues this past week.

Is the GM 100% the same as the official public release? Or is it like 99.99%? Like r they going to make it less buggy for final release?

I ended up repairing the watch. I was getting so annoyed with receiving every notification with the iPhone screen on. It worked. I just hope the bug doesn't come back.
