Praise God! They disabled screenshots. That was the one thing I know I needed. Half of my photos are my watch face!

So here we are on watchos3 and the watch STILL cant tell you if you left your phone behind. Seriously, is that a complex piece of code? Doesnt seem like it.

Yes, I know there are (unreliable) 3rd party apps.
Sure it does. You look up at the top of the watch face and if a red iPhone with a line appears, your iPhone is out of range. guess that's not an alert, but it does help. You can also ping your phone but I agree it should let you know. Great idea.

When the watch re-connects to your phone (for example, when you get back in range after a run), pull in all of the notifications you missed. Right now, your watch remains completely unaware of any notifications that triggered on your phone while you were out.

I can't speak for all notifications, but my Watch *did* actually collect all my iMessage notifications and "tap" me one by one until they were all dismissed when I returned home from a bike ride without my phone.

I'll have to test this again to see how consistent it is.

These Disney faces are really awful...

Until Apple opens up Face customization and creation to 3rd party devs, my interest in this Apple Watch remains right around zero.

Not holding my breath on this one :)
The face gallery could be setting the ground work for a face store.

Anybody got the emergency services call thing to show up? Mine shows medical ID but not the emergency services phone thing. I'm in Britain.

Oh, and anybody tried the Swift tutorials app? That keyboard is great - they should do something like that for the normal keyboard.

I agree. I use friends quite a bit to send messages. Why would they effectively remove the ability to initiate a chat from your watch?

Although I never used this feature, I do find it strange that they completely removed it.

A nice middle ground would be to have a Contacts app on the Watch that works the same way as the friend circle. Then you could add it to your dock, thus achieving the same function by pressing the side button.

Edit: also you can initiate a text still by Force Pressing your conversations in the Messages app and selecting New Message. For calls, there's still the Contacts list in the Phone app. Not as easy to initiate conversation, but you can still do it.

I'm starting to think watchOS is becoming more and more like iOS, the same iOS is for the Mac.

doing screenshots on a watch for example.

Not buyin' it until they add the Cookie Monster and Gadget Hackwrench watch faces.

I wonder if the new Sierra Contacts will be Watch compatible for the dock? That might be why its missing now if people don’t also have Sierra beta installed.

Does anyone know if we will be getting a public beta on the WatchOS 3?
Other OS's are getting it in July, but I couldn't find any info for this! :(

Can't wait to see battery performance in daily use with background refreshes. Will probably hold off a few days after public release before updating. I don't want to lug around yet another cable, just to charge my Apple Watch Gen 1 midday...

This is my concern too! Battery life is pretty good for me now, as is.
I am really looking forward to the chronograph activity watch face though! :)
BTW, does anyone know what the complication that looks like a sun is in the upper left?

Some nice updates, but there are still a few features I wish they'd add:

- Some way to lock the watch face. If you run with sleeves over your watch (say, in the winter), all kinds of things get 'pressed' and it can really screw with your activity. For example, when it suddenly drops into power reserve mode because your moistened sleeve triggered the glance. Let me lock it, and unlock with a double or long press on the buttons.

- An expanded music app. Let me store more than 2GB, keep track of play counts, allow smart playlists.

- When the watch re-connects to your phone (for example, when you get back in range after a run), pull in all of the notifications you missed. Right now, your watch remains completely unaware of any notifications that triggered on your phone while you were out.

You can lock the watchface during a workout,
Lock your Apple Watch while you work out
You can lock your Apple Watch screen, so nothing can accidentally tap the screen, change your metrics, or end your workout. Just firmly press the display and tap Lock.

When you want to end your workout or make changes, firmly press the display again and tap Unlock.

This sounds like the watch we should have had on day one.

Yup. And the iPhone 3GS should have been available on day one of the original iPhone's release. And with the 2012 MacBook Air over the original 2008 model with a single USB port. And on and on.

But most people know that's not how Apple introduces and evolves products.

watchOS 3 is a substantial update on several fronts.
