Yes, I've used both. But again, Apple gave us Nightstand Mode for a reason. I'd bet that the majority of AW owners take them off at night, just as you would with a "traditional" watch. Maybe a poll would be enlightening. :)

A poll would be enlightening. I'd guess its pretty evenly split. I sleep with mine on for sleep tracking. I disagree that Nightstand Mode, means apple agrees with you. It's just an option. I would be willing to bet they eventually implement native sleep tracking.

I created a Poll if you care to go vote :)

my experience with watch os5 so far:

batterylife 50% worse than before
sometimes not the whole screen is activated

anybody else these issues?
Neither of those problems for me. The battery is slightly worse. About 8 hours of sleep from 100% is about 93% versus 95-96%.

The first and second beta releases have been better than some other versions but this beta has had strange problems for me.

Sometimes my series 2 wouldn’t charge even though it shows that it is charging. The battery would show that the charge was actually discharging. A reboot would show that it was fully charged. Sometimes when placed on the charger it would light up that it was charging with the green ring and the next time it wouldn’t light up at all.

Some bizarre behavior overall as expected for beta 1/2 and some behavior that I have never seen before. Screen night flicker or getting a stand count while laying down, etc.

It’s a very early beta and risky if this is your only watch. My series 3 is still O/S 4.

I’ve seen way worse beta 1/2’s that is for sure.

A simple hard reset of the my series 1 Apple watch fixed this for me.

Asking this again since now more people have the beta running:

Anyone else having issue with wi-fi calling on the non-cellular series 3?
I turned back on wi-fi calling in the iPhone and every time I try to turn on wi-fi calling in the watch app, the slider keeps turning itself back off when reopening the settings page.

I am expecting this to be a watchOS 5 issue...just wanted to make sure everyone else was experiencing the same thing.

Looks like the Astronomy face got a similar update to Solar as well, simplifying the display to remove the corner buttons and date (changing Earth/Moon/Solar System is now done via Customize). Rotating the crown still adjusts the time, but now the wording in the corners is coloured to match what's being viewed (blue for earth, white for moon, solar system is dark yellow).

Does this mean the spatial animation where you can "fly" from the earth to to the moon is gone? I was hoping they'd add other planets.

That’s correct. The trade off is that you now get Complications, which personally is something I always wished this face could do. Shame they couldn’t figure out a good way to be able to switch between the planets as well but I’ll be using this face a lot more now that I can put other things on it!

Having several automatic restarts each day. If few others are experiencing this, I'm thinking an unpair and repair is in order.

A shame in some respects but I have long thought that the Solar watch face has the most beautiful design, but with no complications it does somewhat defeat the point of a smartwatch, so I rarely use it.

Same here... my S1 has 2 days battery life normally, down to 20% after 18 hours...

Activity rings do not show on watch face, work when tapped though

This is still a developer beta (not public), right?

Either way it's a beta OS. I'm sure they'll iron out some of the bugs and battery life issues in time.

Yep. Never will be a public beta until the watch o/s can be rolled-back.. if ever. People should understand that the beta is so new that it will be another 3 months before the actual release.

I use custom timers a lot. watchOS 5 beta 1 initially brought me to a list of recents times each time I went to use the watch timer. This meant an extra step each time I wanted to set a custom timer. Then, to my surprise, one of the recent times was replaced by the “Custom” button. Now setting a custom timer is as quick as it reasonably can be. Just a bit of AI, in a watch.
