Hey everyone,

Has anyone encountered one of the following bugs?

- Maps from iOS 13 Workouts are no longer showing
- Workouts with WatchOS 7 / iOS 14 don't show the route on a map (just a single pin at the start)
- Workouts occasionally don't sync at all

Using a Series 4 GPS and iPhone 11 Pro Max, everything's been pretty smooth on iOS 13/WatchOS 6.

Trying to see if someone discovered a workaround.

Multiple reboots/repairs haven't helped.

Update:

Thread at Apple is 8 pages long by now:
Workout maps gone in iOS 14? - Apple Community

TL;DR: Nothing fixes it for now so don't bother re-pairing. Apple Support seems to be aware according to people that called it in.

So this is happening to me too. It seems that no route data is syncing at all since I upgraded to WatchOS 7 (Strava tells me this when I try to import my workouts). I've checked that Location Services are turned on and toggled them off / on a couple of times. Have also rebooted my watch several times. Nothing seems to work. ?

Series 3 GPS + iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Having the same problems with my Series 4 and 11 Pro Max.

No issues here, both outdoor and indoor cycling sync just fine, S4 SBSS and 11ProMax
Try the famous unpair/pair

I'm more frustrated by all of my old workout maps not showing in activity––dating all the way back to 2017. Really hoping the data isn't lost...

Yep I’ve had this as well. No route data on S4. It wasn’t showing current elevation while recording a hike either - just two dashes.

That's a good point. I just checked and all my historical routes have also vanished - going back to 2015. There had better be a way to get them back...

Of those affected, does your Health app also show a high battery usage despite not being on screen much?

A little more investigation through Console shows that the HealthKit Database got corrupted while upgrading to iOS 14:

Ever since the update to Watch OS7 am not getting the correct amount of activity on the activity ring.
Exercise data shows 8/30 but outdoor walk was 1.97 Miles so more like 30 minutes+, same thing happened yesterday.

Same here to all, including crazy high battery usage for Health. Strangely enough, the map still appears for workouts that aren't running/walking/hiking (map is totally missing on those three, I don't bike so can't help there), but it just shows the location. One of my workouts didn't record either, I could see it on my Watch afterwards but it's not in my list of workouts. My post history has more info about the issues I've been having.

I had a call with two Apple technicians yesterday, they said it's not the first time they've heard of it but they don't know what the issue is, other than that iOS 14 is preventing the Health app from picking up/storing all the Watch data and activity. I had unpaired and repaired from backup several times prior to talking with them with no luck, set up as new per their suggestion and it seems to be a little better but not by much. I have a follow-up call scheduled with them tonight, hopefully will get some more info soon. It's super frustrating.

I started having an issue this morning. The Fitness app just stopped updating. It's not even showing up on my watch anymore. I'm on watch OS 7 and my 11 Pro is on 14.0.1.

Major Health/Fitness problems here too. Issues were intermittent for the last week since upgrading to Watch OS 7 on my old Series 4. Series 6 arrived yesterday, upgraded to Watch OS 7.0.1 and iOS 14.0.1 on my 11 Pro. Now, absolutely no activity data is syncing from my Series 6 to the Health or Fitness apps. Very frustrating. Data from both an outdoor walk and today's typical indoor movement/walking around/standing is nowhere to be found on the phone.

Recording my runs with Stryd. Sometimes runs only partially in Apple Health (8km of 15) and no maps. Also no maps from pre watchOS 7 activities.

When syncing indoor cycling no heart rate data and ring does not close.

Really bad for a smartwatch being sold as a fitness device? No testing at Apple?

I was able to get GPS data using Strava for a 'run' today. About to go on a short bike ride, hopefully map data from Strava works for that, as I'm sure it doesn't using fitness (isn't recording map data for outdoor runs for me).

Edit: Strava got the mapping right on a 16 mile bike ride.

Interesting...within the last 30 minutes, portions of my Health and Fitness data have begun to populate. Activity (steps/standing) still look to be about an hour behind, but this morning's outdoor walk has now been registered as a workout although the map/GPS elements are still blank. Slow progress...
