It is weird to me that if I set an alarm on my Watch it doesn't show up or alert my phone, but if I set an alarm on my phone it will alert both my Watch and my phone. Seems like the two should just be in-sync regardless of where I set the alarm.

Didn't the crown and function button at one time put the watch in to snooze mode? I hate that pressing either cancels the alarm. Trying to successfully press a digital button in the morning when you're half awake sucks. Let the physical buttons do the most safe thing, set snooze!

My wife wears hers to bed, as she doesn't want to wake me with a loud, bedside alarm.

She also complains frequently that her watch isn't charged up...
Perhaps consider buying your thoughtful wife a second Apple Watch so she can swap them out quickly & easily ending her worrying about the charge of her current watch? 👍🏻

Is there an opposite where I could/mute the alarm and keep on sleeping while not turning off sleep mode? Now if I choose to continue sleeping it turns off sleep mode and get awake by all the notifications it lets through.

I don't think you understand how alarms and sleep mode work.
That’s strange- that’s the way it works for me (except the red). Do you just use an alarm without sleep mode? Or is the point that even if its in sleep mode when the alarm goes off you could use the press to hold to silence it? I always wake almost immediately when the alarm goes off so I’ve never had the issue described.

Need a "LOCK" mode on watch that can be enabled even when wrist detection is enabled. Almost baffling this still does not exist.
Better yet, a true night mode or sleep mode that prevents the screen from turning on while you sleep!! Countless times I’ve rolled over on my side and the screen touches the bed or pillow causing the screen to turn on

I'm the exact opposite of a fan of wearing a watch to bed, but BOY did I appreciate the silent alarm when I had to get up before 5am for work for a few weeks due to being in the wrong time zone. Or I guess I should say, boy did my significant other sleeping in the same bed appreciate it.

Battery charge surprisingly ended up being a non-issue; as long as I remembered to take it off for an hour at some point in the evening (while in the bath or eating, usually), there was plenty of charge to spare. Even on the couple of days I forgot, it would still make it until morning so I just charged it after I got up.

I also set up a dark-red watch face with as little as possible on it as the do-not-disturb face, which made for a much less unpleasant experience if I woke up and wanted to see how much time I had left to sleep. My only complaint is that there's no watch face with just tiny or very thin numbers to minimize the amount of light; the number-only face they're quite fat, so I ended up using the one with a huge complication under the time and putting the heart rate one there, which doesn't have much light output and is red.

took them 9 years to add this..
Probably took enough people to complain about it. Sounds like some here were doing it but didn’t realize what was happening. I’m sure they might think it was a glitch or they forgot to set it or something.

They means they didn’t report what was happening because they didn’t know.

watchOS 9.4 includes a change that will prevent Apple Watch users from accidentally turning off their alarm while sleeping, according to Apple's release notes for the software update, which is in the final stages of beta testing.

Specifically, Apple says that a wake-up alarm set in a Sleep Focus mode will no longer be silenced with the "Cover to Mute" gesture starting with watchOS 9.4. This means if the palm of your hand happens to cover your Apple Watch's display for three seconds while sleeping, the alarm will no longer be silenced unintentionally.

watchOS 9.4 is expected to be publicly released as soon as next week. The small but useful change was highlighted on Reddit earlier today.

Quite an achievement to have the problem in the first place! We have a manual battery alarm clock, iPhone alarm, Apple Watch’s and hue lighting all going off at the same time. The battery alarm clock is in case we have a power cut. The iPhone runs an automation to play via the BBC Sounds app to the HomePod, which also has an alarm set on it!

I'm not sure what settings the original poster changed to make the sleep mode clock red. For me its a light blue.

I think the original poster didnt read the thread in Reddit to understand what the complaints were and changes are going to.

The number of times I am dreaming about someone tugging on my arm or something to do with my wrist because my alarm is going off on my wrist. To the person who asks about their ultra being with out battery wth. Mine lasts at least two full days without recharging. If I see it low I throw it on the charger 1/2 hour before bed. Try lowering your brightness, or maybe less notifications?

I reported it a couple of times. It's still showing as Open, none others like it.

Interesting,

Have had Apple watches since Series 0 and have never encountered this. Does it light up the watch face or somehow switch to flashlight mode on you?

Is it coming out of nightstand mode when it does this?
Not flashlight mode, just full brightness screen. Coming out of nightstand mode. It does this even after a full reset. Series 7.

It's about time but I don't sleep with my Apple Watch Ultra strapped onto my wrist.

How do people go to sleep with their Apple Watch on? I need mine to be charged every night.

I charge mine before bed so I can track my sleep and get my wrist temp in the morning for my cycle.

About a week ago my alarm didn’t wake we up for work and I was wondering what happened. Usually my Watch Ultra would vibrate but for some reason it didn’t — this now makes sense.

Charge it when in the shower. I used to always carry a usb dual Qi charger (AirPods and Watch) with me to connect to laptop or dock for 45mins during the lunch break to fully charged if not charged whilst in shower getting ready. A quick wash before putting on the wrist and jet out the house.
