it wouldn't be for me, not because I wouldn't want but because I forget things easily and could get to take 3 per day.... , ohh wait I have 2 children, hoping to get the 3rd one but is pretty unlikely, not a priority but if comes... No pill for me!! I'm not like a lot of teens just having fun on weekends or whenever a QUICKIE is possible... I'm pretty serious in my relationship. but taking a pill is not the way for me, neither for her...

Stop whining. You cannot compare pregnancy and childbirth to the fathers experience...

Whining? In your first post you make two statements that;

1) Inferred men wouldn’t take action that had the same consequences that a women would.

Why do you think this? Is a man less likely to take any other prescribed drug than a woman for the same illness/treatment?

2) Inferred that men are less likely to be taken at their word by women.

Again, why do you think this? If you think that’s a fair comment would you then agree that women should be barred from the legal profession or from sitting on jury because of this preconceived attitude based on gender?

How many single fathers are out there who took on sole responsibility for the child from birth? Not many...

How many single fathers are out there who would desperately want to take sole responsibility for their child but would accept the two weekends a month the courts dictate only to have to fight hideous battles to get even that.

Ohh the first one is pretty right... *cough*

the second one, I hate the court, it's better when civilized people get an arrangement about children.

back to topic,

This will be a risky pill !!

Honey, did you take the pill?
- yeah, sure, that blue one is great.. ;)
- Ohh sh*t, was the red one... you moth*rf***r

:)

no risk, no fun! :p ;)

Yeah... Some people might take offense to that "I hate children" bit, due to their status in life....

Question: Would this mess up a man's body chemistry as well? (I haven't read the article... call me lazy if its there :))

There are serious side effects with the female birth control pill, such as blood clots, heart attack and strokes. So the female is taking a risk. If they are healthy and don't smoke, it decreases the risk.

According to the article this doesn't have any side effects. The pill just works on the protein that effects motility of the sperm. A flagella like movement, no motility no conception. This is reversible by stopping the medication. The pill would require consistency on the part of the man to take the pill.

While this won't lead to a male sexual revolution (as if we needed one), if it is a non-hormonal method of BC I can see it becoming very popular, at least with trusting couples. Hormones are nasty things to have to be taking. For women it messes with their natural hormonal levels which can have unwanted side-effects.

Paralyzing a few sperm seems less risky because sperm are constantly replaced. It's certainly less objectionable than wearing a condom, or other forms of BC.

I'll be curious to see what the long-term effects are, but this definetly shows promise. I know I'd have gladly taken something like this to keep the wife from having to take hormones.

!

the market seems to be married couples who don't like the side effects of female contraceptive and don't like the clinical feeling of condoms.

this is not meant to be used in place of condoms ... this is for virgins and tested people who don't want to get the girl preagnant. :D

i would definately take it ... me and my (virgin) girlfriend(s) would enjoy it very much me thinks. :p

peace.

Man, If you have never been with a woman before just say it not big deal. And If you had I do not know where you mind have been.

I rather not having sex than experiencing the terrifying experience of having a girl pregnant.

I would take the pill of course and I assume it would be better for guys because girls gain a lot of weight with most of them. Now what sacred me is to not being able of having functionals "what ever their name is in English" after a period of time.

Thanks. But it's absolutely no surprise to me...

Mymemory's exploits have often been discussed elsewhere less public. ;)

Not too phased – I'm a battle-scarred harridan full of scorn and pitiless contempt so I'm not too concerned...

Did the article actually say how long it would take to get to pharmacies? I hope it's not terribly long. One more way to stop pregnancies that aren't absolutely absolutely wanted. Whatever works. Of course, the Arizona legislature is proposing a bill that says if a certain pharmacist doesn't "agree" with birth control pills, they can refuse to fill the prescription...Okay, so the pharmacist at the local Walgreens is going to determine whether or not I can have birth control? (sorry for the tangent...)

you know, that sentence might be a pretty effective birth-control method itself...or a great header for an on-line personal ;)

Interesting though. What happens if you overdose on one of those pills? That wouldn't be good............

They swim backwards and come out your ears. :p

Yeah... I've also heard that some men pay top dollar for that sort of treatment too. ;) :D

There's no way to know yet...If a drug that inhibits the protein (I don't think they've got one they're satisfied with pushing forward yet) goes to clinical trials, then we might start seeing potential problems in Phase I. Even still, we can't be certain about long-term side effects in men taking such a pill consistently for several years down the line from the time the drug goes into Phase I.

It's an important question, but it's probably a bit premature.
