...except he's not complaining about the bars...he's complaining about the decreased recpetion via cut outs and dropped calls. pretty sure he didn't mention anything about bars. read much?

Your right... Somehow after the update the hardware has weakened. My bad, I stopped believing in magic after Criss Angel.

I started this thread and all I got was information confirming that esvee and jw are retarded

The thread was started to see if anyone else had similar issues. This forum has become a place for a bunch of insecure insignificant and most of all defensive people to feel good about nothing.

I have had nothing but good things to say about my iPhone 4 but after this update I have had issues. THAT is ALL. Get a life. I got a genius bar appointment today and YES I have already tried those basic remedies you bonehead.

Wow, name calling now. Real mature. All you had to say is that you tried the solution (which I doubt) and it didn't work. If you still have the problems you described then you're doing the right thing by getting it replaced. If there was a problem with the 4.0.1 update you would have heard a LOT more complaining on this forum by now.

i agree with the OP but this morning i returned my 16gb to get the 32gb (priority list wait) im not going to upgrade to the 4.0.1 gonna leave it for now..

i had the same problem on my 16gb ip4 i dropped at least 4 calls last night in my house b4 the update none...sorry u can rant all you want its in my head but the OP is correct for his situation and mine , it got worse.

could be diff for others though.

no matter what im keeping it the 3g i had is too ugly lol

ill wait it out to see if steve has another fix which was posted that it could be the communication software with the antenna in the phone.

oh and PSi did buy a bumper and no diff still drops bars...

actually, i was more clarifying his complaint than supporting the validity of his claim.

but yeah youre probably right...a system's software can't possibly have effects on the behavior of its hardware...that would definitely be magical.

....wait a minute....

Haha. Fair enough.

Oh and for your information, I read plenty. About 50 text messages a day. BOOM!

OK so I am not alone. I can tell you that the update made my iPhone 4 perform very much like my 3GS as it also had issues with bluetooth in my car and also would not be able to make calls from my bedroom. When I got my iPhone 4 I was so happy because I could now make calls from the bedroom and get to surf the web so to me this was a great improvement. Since this update though I have all the same problems I had with the 3GS which back then just seemed like an ATT issue but after seeing that it was possible with the 4 I know that it's not. I will let you know what happens at the genius bar appt.

When I first got my iPhone 4, I couldn't get it to connect automatically to my car's Bluetooth system. My iPhone 3G would occasionally have a problem, but it usually connect just fine. I thought, perhaps, that was just the way the 4 was going to be. Finally, after a few different attempts to pair again, it's working the way it should. This tells me the Bluetooth implementation can be quite finicky, so that in itself is not necessarily evidence of a faulty update.

I haven't run the update, yet, because I don't really need to.

It's not allowed to speak badly of Apple products in here, these guys spend a lot of their free time defending these huge flaws.

You can't speak your mind in here no more, you get too many aggressive posters on your case. Shame, it used to be a decent forum, but since Apple is so much more mainstream now, this place is like GameFAQS :(

You can ask questions but 1. refrain from name calling, 2. listen to suggestions, 3. engage in normal discussion instead of taking offense when someone disagrees with you. Go through my posts in this thread. I made a suggestion for a fix and when the OP finally acknowledged it and stated it didn't work, I explained that he may have a defective device and to get it replaced.

I hear that! I have been using this site since the days before the first iPhone. Back then there was plenty of insightful discussions. NOW there seems to be nothing but aggro and hostility in the replies with little actual thought. It is sad and somewhat of a commentary on people in general.

The forums here should have a way to "mute" users.

WOW. The users on this forum have also DEGRADED. I have had every iPhone and I have lived and worked in the same place during this time. I am more than able to tell the difference between a coincidence and an actual change. You on the other hand are NOT qualified to make such a statement regarding the nature of my complaint nor the effects that the update may have had. NEXT

I'm with Xploit on this one. I also have been getting a no signal to low signal in all my usual areas. Along with that I have also lost a third of my 3G speeds in the locations where I wasn't having issues prior tothe update. This is getting way too much out of hand already. I'm about this close to dropping this phone. This close....

Dude chill out theres no need to call people names. You gave people a situation that they had no idea what you were talking about and how to fix it. What can you expect from a forum like this. Your best be would of been to call Apple when it happend and seen if they had recieved any complaints. You say that no one here is qualified to make such statement that its all in your head... Who are you to make a statement based on your own judgement? Maybe it is your head and you fail to see that. Maybe its not. No one here knows untill more have this problem. And really with the NEXT you guys? This isnt MTV :)

I updated my iphone yesterday afternoon and as soon as I got to my apartment I could see that it's performance was degraded. I had made phone calls in my bedroom before the update and now the other person could not hear me and the call was dropped. WTF?

X-

No...Your still have the same connectivity that you had before, just the iPhne was lying to you on your signal strength. They are now displaying the true number of bars that you had before, instead of lying to you. They did nothing else to improve actual modem connectivity.

I don't give a crap if they take the bars completely away. What matters to me is that I can use the phone.

Since this update, I have had dropped calls where I didn't before. I also have issues making calls where I had zero problems before.

This is all ignoring the stupid bars.

I did a fresh restore to 4.01

Read the thread and then come back and give us "tips". We are saying that after the update all 3G connectivity and calls went down the crapper, even though it was working fine before.

Hmm, bickering aside, it sounds like staying with 4.0 is the safest bet for now. I guess I'll wait for 4.1 and my free Apple gift card being announced at 1300 today.

Cheers,

i did read the thread and saw the op seem to not try the fixes the people have suggested and those are the same 'tips' i would have given.

so again, DO A FULL RESTORE and see if you still have problems. i personally have absolutely no problems with the update. however, i fully restored to 4.0.1 instead of doing just an upgrade. i also set it up as a new phone.
