Waze will soon integrate with Apple CarPlay's multiscreen dashboard, according to beta testers on the MacRumors forums.

Although it has not yet been officially announced, the feature already appears to be in beta testing, and according to The Verge, also comes alongside in-app lane guidance for the first time. Waze, which is owned by Google, refused to comment to The Verge on the app's integration with the CarPlay dashboard.

Previously, CarPlay required users to completely change between different app screens to see audio controls and other information while being directed to a destination. With the CarPlay dashboard, users can see a map, guidance information, and other contextual information such as currently playing audio or the calendar simultaneously in a split-screen view. The feature arrived with iOS 13, but only worked with Apple Maps originally. With iOS 13.4, Apple introduced the option for third-party apps to add support for the dashboard mode in their own maps apps.

Developers appear to have been slow to integrate the feature, however, with Google Maps only gaining support for it as recently as in August.

Great news. Now if only Apple would allow more customization of Dashboard. For example, I can’t stand having my upcoming calendar events take up space. Edit- clarity.

I have this and it is the killer feature I've been wanting. I have HomeKit garage door openers, and if I'm on the dash board as I pull into my street I can see the open garage door button appear, but then the Waze notification would pop up and cover the button. Now that Waze supports the dashboard it the next turn is at the top of the dashboard. The only thing I need now is for HomeKit to know which vehicle I'm in, If I'm driving my wife's car it doesn't know and shows me the wrong garage door.

Typical Google dragging their feet on new iOS design guidelines or features to implement. But when it’s something they want, it’s out on day 1! 🙄 (only to be taken down and halt development a year later)

You can remove Calendar from the CarPlay interface. On your phone go to Settings > General > CarPlay > {select car} > Customize and rove Calendar.
That removes it from the CarPlay Home Screen, not the Dashboard.

Been testing this and it works well. Is there a way to make album art from Apple Music larger in Dashboard? If not, Apple needs to address that. Album art should be larger than the fast forward or reverse arrows.

Do you press the album art to interact with your music while driving?

I have a 12” screen on my ram. Wish CarPlay maps can take the whole size and not break it into 2 sections
