I've have worked around loud machines from time to time and you couldn't here the ringer nor feel the vib. It would be nice the have a vib notice say 20 or thirty minutes later to alert you to a missed call. When I'm busy at working on something I'm not thinking of my phone in my pocket. On screen notifications are not worth a damn if its in your pocket or case. I'm not constantly check my phone for calls.

Now there will be people here who will say if it was needed it would already be on there. Hell, it would be easy for Apple to add this feature and it would be used by many.

What was the "call event notifications" i seen posted at the keynote this year.

There's an API a developer can use to get notifications on call status, whether a call is incoming, when a call has been disconnected, to enumerate active calls, etc. I'm not exactly sure what use it is. It appears to have something to do with backgrounding, but not having programmed for iOS background tasks I'm not sure what good knowing call status is, rather than a generic notification of being backgrounded for any reason.

Coming from someone who can't tell that MISSED CALL on the home screen means you missed a call.

What do you not understand? The girl wants to be able to know she has missed a call without pressing the home button. It's an absoulutely reasonable request. If her phone is in her pocket or bag, she doesn't want to have to take it out and push a button. She wants to be notified. The whole point of a notification is that you don't need to check it, it notifies you.

Like everyone on here tells me when I have a problem - get a different phone. :p

I don't think this feature will be on the iPhone anytime in the near future. Sadly, nor will custom SMS tones. If they can't even do custom SMS, I wouldn't bank on them doing something complicated as a visual/audio notification system. Lol.
