More than that the advent of 3G and LTE made the blackberry phones irrelevant... You see Their push email was phenomenal for receiving heavy emails when gprs and edge speeds were the norm... The emails would be downloaded on their servers, compressed and then pushed to your device... That's where BB had the benefit... Now with 3G and LTE it doesn't matter how heavy the files in the email are... I can definitely say for 9% of the common folk it doesn't matter if you get a work email on the instant or 15-30 minutes late (if you set your iphone on fetch email)... And if you are really expecting an urgent email you tend to stare at the mail app and refresh like mad anyways...

But, companies who stick to their old ways and past successes and arrogance and refuse to see the light of the changing trends even after being kicked in the groin repeatedly should be avoided at all costs too...

Yup...I get my emails in an instant it reaches my inbox, so I see no benefits of a BB server to push out my emails. Let's face it, BB will be sold sooner or later. Their patent portfolio is worth it, then just sell the device side seperately.

OT: Do you ever wonder why women aren't taken seriously and have a tough time in technology fields? I was going to show this thread to my wife (former consultant) but I don't think I want to get her worked up on a nice Saturday.

It's an Internet forum, not real life.

And even in real life, people goof off and have fun, whether they are tech geeks or not.

If neither of you can do that, then that's something I find a little sad.

well, unless Apple adds fingerprint scanner to every iOS devices, then this argument is invaild.

Do BB phones and Android phones have this on all devices? If they do, your argument is valid!

iOS 7 already removes Apple's patented swipe to unlock implementation. :)

No. You still have to swipe to unlock. They call it "Slide to Unlock" now and you can do it anywhere on the screen.

How is RIM arrogance and refuse to see changes? Do you not see BB 10? BB 10 is just as good as iOS and better in some perspectives. Only thing that BB 10 is lacking is app.

Also, BlackBerry is known for their security for their emailing service and messaging service.

Yes it is a good OS... But they were extremely late... In the meantime they went from being the market leaders looked up to by everyone else to being a joke of a company... Do you seriously can't see that...?

I see it was exteremely late. Apple does this thing too. Look at iOS 7 new UI, it was exteremly overdue as well.

I don't see lots of people joking about BlackBerry, beside die hard fans and on Internet where you can pretty much talk anything and pretending anything.

Also, people seems to forget one compnay that in some situation in early 90s.

Except Apple didn't patent "Slide to Unlock". They patented unlocking a phone by manipulating a virtual image along a path.

Apple's UI overhaul is not late. iOS was and still is one of the most successful mobile OSs in the world. Blackberry OS on the other hand was ancient in comparison, and was a major reason for Blackberry failing. The fact that it took them six years to make changes as iOS and Android trampled them is not just overdue, it was grossly negligent.

A couple of major differences.

1) BB's new OS is late because they've already lost their customers to other platforms. If they hadn't left already, it might have made a difference. Apple hasn't lost their customers yet so iOS 7 isn't really late.

2) BB's new OS isn't so new or better that people want to switch platforms for it. They haven't offered up anything like App Store that would lure developers away. People tend to forget that iOS's popularity is not necessarily the OS itself, but the choice of apps you get. And that new apps tend to come out first (and sometimes ONLY) for iOS.

3) Apple had Steve Jobs to lead them back. Who does BB have that's comparable? Thorsten Heins?
