She loved how thin it was but couldn't get used to the width and height. She's coming from an iPhone XS and never wanted to upgrade and only agreed because she wanted better camera quality and Live Translation features. She's using a base 17 now and appreciates the UW camera for taking craft pics to post on IG and Etsy.
Dang we lost another one!
That makes sense cause 6.5 is about my limit for width. I would have been fine if they kept it at 6.3 honestly.

That was my issue with the Air as well - very thin and light, great to hold, but wasn't any easier to use one-handed given the overall footprint was still pretty large. Though I'm used to the standard sized phones and never got into the plus or Pro Max size.

There seems to be a massive disconnect between people who have used/own the Air and the rest of the internet. The biggest anti Air people are the ones that have never used one.
Same with AppleVisionPro.
That's how social systems work. They are only secondarily concerned with finding the truth. You can see who is banding together and no longer recognizes science and complex assessment as a consensus-building discipline. That's great again for some people, but you can stay away from it.

Price isn't the barrier because even at the same price, it's missing battery life and cameras.

Side by side, people are asking, "Why would I pay $799 for Air which offers 27 hours of battery life with one camera? The iPhone 17 next to it, is also $799 but has 30 hours of battery and two cameras." There's a not a good answer to that unless you really think weight and thickness are a problem - and most people clearly don't feel that way.

Ultrawide provides a field of view that is much similar to human vision. Macro is obvious for anyone taking pictures of documents. Many people use those lenses which is why many complain about lack of it.
The vanilla iPhone 17 screen isn't that much smaller than the Air.

It's 12 grams heavier than the Air. That's borderline nothing.

I honestly believe that most people are far better off with the vanilla 17 versus the Air. I think some people are just enamored with a new form factor tbh. Otherwise the vanilla 17 is cheaper and a far better device in general.

Yes but don’t forget one of the most important purchasing characteristics, vanity. There is no bigger reason for most buying a iPhone and buying a 17 means nobody will be able to tell you have the new one.. a dealbreaker for a lot of people.
