I mostly use Safari, although from my Linux days I’ve learned to trust Firefox. Chrome is only for Google Drive easiness. Edge? Isn’t it incommensurable with Apple?😉🤣😂
Trust Firefox in what way?
Well, it observes the GNU ethos, to start with. It is an app written by volunteers and that’s good news.
That was long time ago. Mozilla has been playing with fire changing terms to have ownership on data you send using Firefox. Only after massive backlash they rolled back for now. I am at a point where I trust chrome more than Mozilla/Firefox.

Peak usage was internet explorer 6 then went downhill when firefox and google chrome arrived.

Well I don't know if there are any deepstate involved as suggested but my personal experience is, Chrome gives me the most trouble-free browsing as far as dealing with government sites, medical sites, etc. Just last night I was using Safari to access a medical site and a pop-up wouldn't work and I had to go back to Chrome. My theory is, Windows' market is still the largest and developers write, put their effort into the largest OS, Chrome essentially came from Windows.

Ya, it may as well that Chrome is the biggest seller of your data. When things calm down, I shall go with a fine tooth comb and go through the procedure, "50 settings one should turn off in Chrome."

Thank you for this, very eye-opening comment. Would you mind to support it with some information on its sources?

See "How we got here" from "A look at Firefox forks" https://lwn.net/Articles/1012453/

Good info.

For me this was the end of line, and that’s not counting backing down on promises not to sell user information, and flip flopping about it.

One area of concern is over new terms of usethat say, "When you upload or input information through Firefox, you hereby grant us a nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use that information to help you navigate, experience, and interact with online content as you indicate with your use of Firefox."

I often see this on websites: “This website is best viewed in the following browsers: Chrome Firefox Edge”. Chrome is always listed first, Firefox second. Once in a while Edge. But NEVER Safari. Why? And why does every website cream their pants over Chrome? I don’t trust Chrome. It’s Google, the company that sells all your data. Why is Safari never listed? Why the prejudice against Safari?
Chrome is just to harvest data; Safari is SO slow for me... I use Firefox
