iPod touch Week 38 = Good iPods?

Had a particularly bad week 36. Returned it to the Apple Store tonight for a Macy Grey Week 38. The difference is, pardon the pun, like night and day. The very cool Apple associate told me that people that come in and act like ******s about it get treated in a reciprocal manner. He was very cool to me...

im posting from my new 38 and the screen is perfect im so glad i got rid of my 36 i had some scrathes on it but they let it slide. Im going to keep it in r
the plastic till my invisible shield comes in. I really love this thing. Anyone know how to use caps locks on it?

a negative effect on everything pictures, webpages in safari (that have black), youtube, videos, album artwork...

Wow I wish I would have had your rep. The guy I spoke to went on the attack the second I said the words "negative black" and refused an exchange without a 10% restocking fee.
 
I had absolutely no problem exchanging my defective week 37 at my Apple store. In fact they didn't even open the box and look at the unit I was returning. Very painless experience for me, in and out in less than two minutes with my defect free week 38.
 
Bought 16gb iPod Touch from the Apple Store in London last Wednesday. Week37 with Corinne on the box. Opened it this morning (for my son's 10th birthday) and immediatley loaded the Jay-Z album cover.

All seems fine :)

From straight on holding the iPod naturally it is not negative. Even turning side to side it remains fine. Only if I tip it forwards a lot (towards me) so that I am looking down the screen at a sharp angle does it go negative. Does that mean it is ok??

Tried one music video and the blacks seemed fine. I would say it is better than my own 5.5g iPod Video.

Seems I might be lucky. So glad - my lad would have been mortified if I told him it had to go back!!

Edit: Apologies if slightly off topic re week 38 but shows there are some good week 37's out there. My advice is buy and try.

I don't think Apple is exactly keeping their employees posted on the week 37 screen issue... I took my defective unit in and the guy at the genius bar said he hadn't seen it before. He ended up showing all the other employees in the store. He exchanged it for a week 38 though, and it works like a charm :D
 
Just got a replacement week 38 today. Doesn't have the black issue, but instead 5 nice dead pixels in the middle of the screen.

I now have to go back to Apple. Fun.
 
Went to replace mine (again) today about an hour after their shipment came in, and the guy in front of me in line bought their entire stock. 15 iPod Touches to one person.

WTF, seriously. Thanks for hosing the rest of your customers so some guy can Ebay your stock at $40 over retail.
 
ya I got a week 38 touch last night and the screen has no problems at all. You know that one album cover that people on the forum have been using to test their screens? I can see it great on my touch
 
I just returned my Week 36 (purchased on September 13) for a Week 38 (with Macy Gray cover). I am still syncing it now, so I cannot yet report on the display, etc. I will say the local Apple store (I made an appointment at the Genius Bar) could not have been nicer or more supportive. I simply described th eproblem I was having and they admitted it was something they saw with early models and exchanged it for a new one immediately --- no hassles at all.
 
I finally went to an apple store and exchange my week 37 16gb, and they give me a week 38 with Macy Gray box,

haven't open it yet, any one got the same serial have problems?

my week 37 got hiss sound issue and dark screen issue. :mad:
 
Went on a recent trip to Cali and brought back 2 iPod Touch's from LA, both week 37 and saved a fair bit on UK cost and time :D

I have one week 37 Touch (mine) that has a perfect screen thankgoodness :rolleyes:. However the second week 37 touch (relatives) has quite a poor screen. So I called up Apple Care and explained the situation to a nice lady at Tech support.

Everything got arranged quickly, they will pick up via courier from my work and all things going smoothly, recognise the problem and replace/fix the iPod. I was polite and explained everything and she did everything without a fuss. She seemed to understand the situation, and when I finished by asking how many are affected she responded by saying about 1 in 100 or so - which was interesting. I also said that I didn't really want to pay a restocking fee and she said not to worry.

I also asked if I was guaranteed a week 38+ model or now, and half said yes and half said that they will just do their thing. As long as it is sorted, I don't mind.

Keep you updated if we get a 37/38/39 return, and how good. So far, very happy with Apple care again - will purchase the additional apple care for the touch I think for both when we get that one back, being the 1st rev and all - you never know. But I'm truly amazed by it, and all my mates at work who spot it fall in love with how slim and gorgeous it is. :cool:

I got mine from vanns, called them up, they will do a refund for me if I mail it back within 15 days, but I have to paid for the shipping. and they don't have more 16gb in stock. I just have to wait for the next batch.:mad:

anyway I exchange a new 38week one at apple store. I took some comparison shots, Still I just don't think the touch screen beats PSP's

The screen on the Touch look wash-out from all angle. :(

can u turn the gamma down and compare em again? ur ipod def. doesnt have the neg. screen issue, im thinking its got smth to do with the gamma
