no.. that's not what I meant... There are two buttons that says that.. Press the button below those. It should say "print in-voice" or similar (in your language

Oh sorry...

No, theres nothing about the serial code, just the order number.

I'm taking my ipod back to Best Buy and getting a Macy Gray box (is it FOR SURE a 38 week?) and I'm gonna bring my laptop along in my car and open it up and sync it there, and put that photo on it, hopefully it will all be good.

no.. look at the back of the box to be sure

i have a week 37 with corinne box and its great!

i love it!

FYI, the box artwork is irrelevant - I got a 38 week Touch, and it had Corinne on the cover, not Macy - some are reporting the opposite.

th safest bet is to look on the back of the box.

What A Relief!

I had been worrying about possible screen issues on the 16G Touch I ordered online immediately after Steve announced them, but mine came yesterday and it seems perfect so far.:D

Week 38, engraved 16G Touch, Corrine box, has no sound problems or display problems, even when viewing the test images. The WiFi is FUN and works well on my home WiFi network, not too slow. Video and photos are gorgeous and I love the Touch interface. Fits nicely into my 5Gen classic iPod black slipcase while I wait for the real Touch cases to ship.

I am so glad Apple decided to hold me in "Prepared for Shipment" limbo for several days while they probably switched the bad one they were about to send me for a new good one when the negative reports started to surface.

If your Touch arrival was delayed, take it as a good sign; mine was worth waiting for and I don't have to send it back, so I'm a happy camper!

I highly recommend this iPod, just get a Week 38 or newer to be safe.

No. The safest bet is to look at your screen and if you think its defective, go and exchange it.

I was referring to NOT going on the merit of the box art, which is what some users have been using as a measure of the better quality iPod Touches, which isn't necessarily true.

The rule of thumb should be to ask the store clerk to show you the back of the box, regardless of box artwork, and check the serial number. It's been posted in some pretty reputable discussion forums (including this one) that we're seeing more and more success with the 38th week, as opposed to the 36/37th.

that was my point.

I order mine from Vanns online store Corrine box 9c737, week 37 I do notice more the black screen or dark scene problem more and more now.could be just in my head, when the dark photo show, the dark part don't show well, I can see the detail on the PC but hard to see on the ipod touch.

Now my question is can I take it to the apple store to do an exchange? I am in NYC.

I'm worried!

My iPod Touch (No Engraving) shipped yesterday & I looked at my invoice to find the following:

Serial No.: (1A737XXX...)

However, I wouldn't think they would ship ones knowing the possibility of a bad screen... right?

yes. they now have the 38 week versions in stock - I picked one up only this morning from the 5th Avenue store. DEMAND either a replacement (check the serial # on the back of the box BEFORE buying) or a FULL 100% refund of the entire price - don't agree to their restocking fee... it's designed for people who just don't want their product - you are entitled to a full refund if your product is faulty...

and if you really want to get deeper into your consumer rights, you're actually entitled to 100% refund up to 12 months after you buy it - this is according to most manufacturer warranties... standard.

good luck!

My parents returned my week 37 iPod Touch (still shrinkwrapped) to the Apple Store in the Florida Mall this morning. The staff denied any knowledge of screen defects, or that they had received any returns. My dad said he didn't care, that he wasn't taking the chance of bringing the Touch home to Ireland only for it to have a fault.

So he got his refund, went to the Best Buy across the street from the mall and picked up a shiny new Week 38 iPod Touch (16GB).

Roll on next Friday when they arrive home....

:D

Picked up a 38 in Corinne Bailey Rae box at Best Buy this morning - looks and sounds great all around.

So I think its been pretty much confirmed that the 38 ones work! Yay! So if I order one now from Apple in the UK im guessing ill get a good one?

Picked up an ipod today. The last one AND it was a 38 model :]

Yeah it's really good, I synced some really dark pictures onto it and I saw no difference between them and the ones on the computer.

excuse me if this was posted somewhere else....but what are the serial #s of the week 38's? (as in like the back of the box cuz i want to make sure that when my amazon order comes, its not a 36 or 37!) cheers

After lots of consideration and a canceled pre-order, I picked one up at Best Buy today (if anyone is curious, the Manchester, NH Best Buy got their first shipment in today).

Picture on it is the Macy Gray picture. Serial Number is a 1A737 model, which typically means a Week 37. However, the screen image is perfectly fine (I used the test images here and watched some dark video scenes). I can always grab some photos if anyone is curious, but I think others have demonstrated it well already.

If you wouldn't mind, I would like to see some photos. As I stated above, mine shipped yesterday and the serial number begins with 1A737 as well. Thanks for the information.
