I’d get it replaced whether or not it bothered me just for resale value down the road. Might not make a huge difference but it could make a difference to some buyers.

That's literally my only thought. Personally I do not care or mind. But I do upgrade my phone often enough that getting the best resale value is important to me. And if it is something that I didn't cause, I don't want to get dinged on that.
they had some replacement units set aside and I managed to get a new iphone, wouldn’t have been too bothered by the spots but didn’t want resale value to be affected.

M means retail unit, meaning it includes the charging cable. N usually means warranty replacement unit. Usually anytime you have a genius bar appointment, and they replace your phone for issues, and swap device, the replacement usually starts with N
interesting bc I remember all warranty replacement were N. might be diff this year with 13 pro
Not sure. It's possible they may have set a side a few retail units as a replacement. I would assume that in a few days or so that warranty replacement will start with N.
I am hoping I get a regular retail unit then. Since it will be less than 14 days since I took delivery. Scheduled my appointment for 7 days from now.
I’ve the same dots like OP, not as dark but I’ve got 3 of them.
I really don’t know if I should swap the device since it it’s flawless except the dots.
2 thoughts are blocking me to return it,
1. I’m afraid off more optical flaws with the new device.
2. Getting a refurbished iPhone not a retail like y’all said.

hey I was looking at my new phone today, the replacement, and ive found 2 of these dots on the back even tho it’s a replacement. I’m not going to even return this again as it must be common on this iPhone finish, annoying but i love the phone
I’d say just keep it. Chances are that if you were to return it and get a new one, it could have similar issues or issues of something else. Not worth a hassle for me. I’ve had instance where I got a scratch on a stainless steel out of the box on a pacific blue 12 pro max last year. Got it replaced, and that replacement had scratches too, I gave up then and decided to use it, it lives in a case anyways.
Just checked my serial number. Starts with N. Brand new in box from ATT with all cables and such.

Yea that baffles me because N is referred to as a replacement unit for warranty purposes (Well at least from Apple Genius Bar)

Because you are looking at the serial number. We are referring to the model number.
