I wasn't jumping on the guy, just an honest question. I've been hearing the same thing from a few people here who complain about how leaks ruin the event (which is fair) but then I wonder why visit this site? Its all about hoping for leaks.

Agree and disagree.
I want some leaks, but not too many.
I mainly want leaks announcements that there is going to be an update so I can start saving up.
Leaks about a glass trackpad, Blue Ray (on MBP), and aluminum casing (maybe) are all kinda things I wouldn't like gradually hearing about at spread out times.
But pic leaks ruin the whole thing.

Approximately when on tuesday can we expect the event being announcement, based on the time of the day of the announcement for the new iPods last time?

Aren't you a bit too picky ? :) What time would you like to have your leaks ? 1st at 10.15am is it ok ? Then we'll try to organize a second one at 1.24pm, is that fine ? ;)

I don't give a s**t if a leak could "ruin" an event. I've been waiting for more that 6 months so I just want some concrete information.

It could be any time really. The "Let's Rock" event announcement was circulating the interwebs at around 12 noon. When the Alum iMac event was announced back on July 31, 2007, news of that event didn't hit the internet till around 7pm.

Well you can't really have it both ways. If you come to this site you'll be infiltrated w/ bogus rumours & photos and eventually some will be true & your Mac Event will be spoiled. Its just the nature of the beast. Myself I usually prefer to be surprised but I'm just too obsessed over the next MBP to stop this insanity. :D

Don't say definitely :). We all know apple could easily go without an event. It wouldn't be out of character that is for sure.

yes, but then again, apple is the type of company where they like to show off their super amazing products. its a very high up brand name, and a jump in technology like this, they will probably want everyone to know about it. yes apple is known to be random at times, but it is wouldnt make sense for them to just release it onto their website...
they got a standard to withhold....

No need to jump on the guy. Rumors spark interest, speculation, and discussion. Leaks leave little room for anything. Think of it like a Christmas present. If you snoop in your parents closet and find your presents, you know what they got you. It takes all the fun out of Christmas morning. But if you catch your parents dropping hints, it only makes you more excited.

I feel there will be an event. Why would Jobs NOT want to announce to the world how he is better than everyone and brag about the Brick manufacturing process. Also if he is redesigning the line of laptops and making them more affordable this sounds like something he would want to announce to everyone. Gets more attention and makes Apple look better. Just my 2 cents.

well, if there wasn't an event for the macbook redesign in the past.

How about let's say, new macbooks and macbook pros today then? no need for an event :D that would be nice. i could do without an event as i don't quite like waiting.

Actually, 3pm would be nice, right when I get home from school.
That way the thread won't have 6 pages before I even see it. =P

Keep in mind, no invite tomorrow means only that there will most likely not be an event. It doesn't preclude a silent launch. Remember, the MacBook had no launch event, it just showed up on Apple.com one morning.

In short: If there is no news tomorrow, nobody freak out too badly, plx.

No one freak out tomorrow, but you can bet that everyone will freak out on October 14th if no new notebooks are to be seen.
;)

Im just glad I stopped waiting...

I've been enjoying my MBP for close to 6 months since people were swearing new models would be release "any Tuesday now".

Stop waiting and buy something!!

:D

Actually, my iPod Classic just died, so I might be buying an iPod touch soon to entertain myself until they're released. Hey, it's something. :p

An event would be a great opportunity for Steve Jobs to show that he is still alive.:D

Maybe there was no event announced today because he really is dead. Is there any evidence that he is alive??? DID I JUST BLOW YOUR MIND?!

lol he said in the last keynote he was alive and well

;-)

Actually he DIDN'T, he actually didn't say anything. Just had a slide behind him that said "Rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated" ... That is a far cry from 'alive and well' :)

There's still time for an event!

Last year's Mac event invitations:

AppleInsider said:
Tuesday, July 31, 2007 ... Published: 07:00 PM EST

And there's still a possibility for an October 14 announcement without an event.

Approximately when on tuesday can we expect the event being announcement, based on the time of the day of the announcement for the new iPods last time?

Well crap, we shouldn't be blaming Apple though. It's not their fault that some dude with a blog felt like inventing info, which was subsequently linked out to every other apple site around...
I can see why apple is acting very secretly this time around, especially after the nano leaks. I just wish they'd upgrade the Macbooks already, and cut the Cloak and Dagger crap. Prestige is good, but not at the cost of a dying computer.

AGREED. Some of us are professionals that need these machines, and are waiting with bated breath for confirmation of a new machine - or not - so that we can make a business decision to buy one right this second - or not. It simply makes more sense to wait and purchase the better machine if it's launch is imminent, rather than something that will immediately devaule.

I NEED a new MacBook Pro (ie. one without a GPU that's guaranteed to fail at the worst possible time), and as such could care less about the frisson of excitement when stevegod springs another christmas on the fanboys.

9to5Mac who reported the brick rumor also said we should expect an event, but nothing has happened. I think several of these sites risk their reputation. Seems like that taiwanese blog who reported no MacBooks this months might be the winner after all..
