AGREED. Some of us are professionals that need these machines, and are waiting with bated breath for confirmation of a new machine - or not - so that we can make a business decision to buy one right this second - or not. It simply makes more sense to wait and purchase the better machine if it's launch is imminent, rather than something that will immediately devaule.
I NEED a new MacBook Pro (ie. one without a GPU that's guaranteed to fail at the worst possible time), and as such could care less about the frisson of excitement when stevegod springs another christmas on the fanboys.
First of all, we may be talking about two different types of leaks. Some of us prefer not to know everything before the event, otherwise it is annoying waiting for the event to tell us something we already know. As I stated before, I would love to know 100% that new MBPs are coming out in a week; However I don't need to know all the little details because I am intelligent and can expect a bump up in specs.
Don't give me any of this "I'm a professional" B.S. If you are a student, a business person, a professional, a retiree, or a four-year-old it is the same. Get off your high horse and buy it if you really need it now or wait if you don't. It is that simple and doesn't pertain to your status.
Also, if you follow the advice found in this forum you would learn how to properly take care of your MBP to do the most to prolong the life of the faulty GPUs.
