Just wanted to download 3.1, until i saw the estimated time......2 HOURS!
Downloaded mine in 1:26 seconds.
Took me 4 minutes within the hour it launched.
Edit: @ thegoldenmackid, I bet you didn't.
It's typical for a release day. Just try again a bit later.
Your downloading it over GPRS via tethered iPhone if it's that slow....…
EDIT: is it worth downloading if you have 3.0?
Always updated on release day, but never had/saw this much of a wait. WOW
Is that 1 minute 26 seconds? Mine looks like it takes about 22 minutes.
No, downloading over wifi on my Macbook Pro
Downloaded mine from work at around 5PM ESt in about 3 minutes
Restart the download. I started with a 2hr download time. Canceled and started again and it downloaded in 4min.
Did it in 50 seconds.... of coarse I downloaded 3.1 2 hours after the initial release.
Took me just over 3 minutes over at 15 Mbps connection.
The download took me about 1.5 hours to download, backup, and install/update. It took way too long for not being able to observe any obvious new improvements. The most disappointing part is that many people likely did this at times of the day that inconvenienced them. For me, I began the update just before I went to lunch, and when I came back, it was only halfway done. The consequence - I was without my phone during lunch, and my phone was essentially out of commission for the second 45 minutes, which means that I could not receive nor make calls in the middle of the day. Apple could have at least released a message saying "This update will take 1.5 to 2 hours and there isn't really anything new."
update: the actual downloading part took about 20 minutes.
same. I DLed it shortly after the announcement, I had the time to let my computer sit and download (why people think hitting 'download' isn't worth the time no matter how long it takes is beyond me... just opt to download and not update and you can unplug your phone and walk away, then set the update when you're ready) eventually it timed out, originally saying it would take 2 hours and when I started it back up it took 2 minutes.
Only took me 14 mins, downloads mins after it released.
It took me long enough to go make breakfast, finish some laundry and take a shower.
OP: the fact that I was able to download in just over three minutes about a half hour after you complained about a 2 hour download time makes me think that the issue is on your end, not Apple's.
Same...of course this was around 5PM eastern time.
