Some nice information there and great improvements, now can Apple update its computer line up? I mean why are we even on a series 4 of a watch, it can’t seriously be that important to update at this point. I think I’m done holding out for Apple these days.
Yeah, why update the watch once a year and their computers only once per year.

I'm on a Series 2 and have had zero problems out of it. I love the watch more than I thought I would. If these rumors are true I will definitely be upgrading day one.

I like the mock-ups. What we need is more display in the same case. These designs deliver. They also look like designs that Apple would make. Sorry Round watch people, Apple has already said no.

As for function, EKG (with fingers on the side) makes sense, as does Blood glucose, but I think that is still some time away. I'd love if they would activate the pulse oximetry sensor that is reportedly already there. As a Asthmatic, that would be a game changer as it would be for people who have congestive heart disease.

Sleep tracking is coming but will require more battery so that you don't have to take it off at night. I would love to see the RF power charging that has been rumored for this. Then you would never need to take off your watch. You know, like a watch. :)

What I still don't get is the need of having an iPhone to have an apple watch. An iPad or a Macbook should be more than enough to set up the basic things.
It's for network access while not at home (or in other locations where you have WiFi access). Yes, the Apple Watch needs internet access less than a smartphone but you still reduce its functionality noticeably without network access. If and when all Apple Watches have cellular access, that requirement can be dropped (with the configuration app being able to run on an iPad or Mac).

The watch is the one device that actually has to be thinner. The body needs to be changed. I'm thinking it will look like the iPhone 4 but with polished metal. The version we have now is like the original iPhone.

How about a slimmer rectangular design, like the JLC Reverso, for a more discrete look?

I hope the glass is more scratch resistant. I had to get mine (Series 3) replaced two months ago and it's back to being all banged up.

It seems quite scratch-resistant already. What do you do to scratch your Watch? I had a Series 0, never scratched the face, passed it down to my teenage son, who hasn't scratched the face. And the face on my Series 2 looks like new. My series got a tiny nick in the aluminum case from a drop, but nothing on the glass.

Admittedly, I don't do construction in mine, just desk job, running, cycling, yard work, house work, etc.

How about a round Apple Watch?

I wish this idea would die. A round Apple Watch would be terrible.

Thinner would be fine in concept, but at this point I would not trade battery size/life for thinner.

A bigger display could be the selling point to me. I have a series 1 so I can install watchOS 5 and I'm not sure I'll buy a new model this fall, but a new design and better heart rate monitoring would be good reasons to upgrade.
Apple hasn't launched LTE models in my country yet, so the speed increase alone wasn't compelling enough.

Eh? I'm pretty sure the SS models are all "polished metal" because I'm wearing my SS S3 right now and it looks just like the bezels on my iPhone X. ;)

I want to be able to have the battery last for two full days. It is a pain to bring the stupid charger for the weekend.
Either more battery or full Qi compatibility, so I can have a single charging pad for the iPhone and the Watch

AirPower is coming. ;)

Yes, but it does not resemble the iPhone 4. Your wearing a SS that looks like the original iPhone design. I'm talking about a different format with the banded sandwhich design but with crystal instead of glass. The iPhone 4 was not polished but I am very sure this will continue to be. Just seems like the designs are not particularly new. They just seem smaller versions of what we already have seen from Jony Ive.

The Apple Watch is a very important product, well worthy of an update. And note that Apple updated its MacBook Pro line just this morning and is rumored to be releasing extensive Mac updates later this year.

I thought this guy didn’t do Apple predictions anymore?

He switched firms and is believed to now have an expanded analytical portfolio, but he still analyzes Apple.

What I still don't get is the need of having an iPhone to have an apple watch. An iPad or a Macbook should be more than enough to set up the basic things. I can imagine that most people doing outdoor sports, aren't carrying around powerbanks just to be able to use their iPhone and posteriorly their apple watch.
Also at least a 5 day battery would be awesome.

I agree that it should be possible to use the Apple Watch without an iPhone, and I expect that Apple will allow this before too long. It's not atypical for Apple to release a product tied at first to its other products and then allow that product to have broader use once it matures a bit. This is exactly what Apple did with the iPod, for example. I would not be at all surprised by an Apple Watch for Android app, or by a way to set up the Watch with a computer.

I do normal things just the same as you stated you do. I work in product development and engineering which is basically a desk job. The glass is scratched all to glory but the body is still absolutely flawless even where scratches would look like they should continue from the glass to the body. Makes no sense to me just something I haven't been happy with so far.

So random question. The screen on the watch is in portrait mode when you bend you arm up to look at it. Wouldn't it be better in landscape orientation ??

maybe if you had an extra elbow in the middle of your forearm. But seriously, why would you think landscape would be better? When you lift your arm the natural position of the watch face is portrait as you look down on it.

I don't know about you but my eyes are laid out in landscape orientation not portrait!!!!

I wouldn't be opposed to them rotating the design 90°. It would be nice for viewing if the watch sat on your wrist with the long end inline with your arm. The difference doesn't seem like much but it would be quite nice especially if they increase the size of the display

This looks very promising. However, I'll probably stick with my S3 for another year or so. I don't really need the extra screen real estate per se.

In fairness, if they could crack the blood glucose monitoring and it was accurate enough clinically, that would push the sales of these things to new heights I think.

That would be enough reason for me to buy one. But there are other systems coming online right now that don’t require you to prick your finger and you can take multiple readings without using test strips just by bringing the reader near a small puck that you change around once a month.

If Apple didn’t need a replaceable component it would still be better but other than rumors about AW gaining this functionality I haven’t seen much. And I’m not sure that insurance companies would be happy helping you buy a device that has a lot of non medical functions. Most insurance companies are not supporting any of the new meters/readers even though they are easier to use and you can check yourself in a few seconds. I have my theories as to why but let’s leave insurance companies and medical ethics out of this.

I don't think "polished metal" was what you were trying to describe. If you are speaking about the metal on the 4, you are talking about brushed metal.
