when I see someone texting while driving. That really annoys me.

Annoying for good reason, dangerous!

Humanity in general

Agreed. We tend to be aggravating. :)

karma being unfair

If it's unfair, it's not karma.

when people are not educated on gays and transgenders.

Also known as prejudice or intolerance.

People who get emotional after something has happened, like the emotion can undo what was done.

Emotions are part of our makeup.

People who clip and/or bite/spit out their nails in public. Worse, on the subway. I literally have to move cars.

Agreed disgusting.

the cries of neighbour's baby at night.

... or the neighbor's dog that barks incessantly. Every night I hear it. :(

Agreed on all points :) BTW my neighbors dog barks in the backyard constantly day and night. I've already filed a complaint with the town just the other day. Luckily these are temporary renters. I called the landlord a few weeks ago, and he's done nothing. Now it's time for the town to get involved.

How about when someone blows their nose in a restaurant while others are eating? I think that's extremely inconsiderate and disgusting. Go the the freaking restroom and do that!

Why? To negative?

Yes, too negative, for one. This is classic self-indulgent wallowing in negativity, in lives, that are, for the most part, extraordinarily privileged by wider world standards.

And, frankly, while some of the topics vented about may be somewhat annoying, in the wider scheme of things, to waste one's time on such irrelevances when there are far greater things to worry about, strikes me as a waste of time.

Thank you for posting 3 times, so far, in this thread.

Is there a Rule, about which I am unaware, that limits the number of posts an individual is permitted to add to any thread?

Did I somehow miss that Rule?

Also, it is strikingly ironic that, unless I have counted incorrectly, you have SIX posts on this thread.

Can it be that your complaint about the number of posts put up by another member relates to the content of the posts...which might not be in total agreement with your oft posted position? And why would you single out one member for notice, when there are many others (myself included) who have posted three or more times on this thread.

If three posts is too many, then six posts is...well....

Sigh. And now, for my fourth post......on this thread.

There are some threads which resemble the virtual equivalent of a mosquito bite, you know, that red, hot, itchy and utterly irresistible thing that you know, deep down, should not be scratched, but that scratching - while unhealthy - gives a strange, serene, (and very temporary) relief.

For me, this thread falls into that category....it may seem whingy, self-indulgent, petty, trivial, prone to petulant ranting and venting, but, you know, such is part of life's rich and varied fabric.

I think it's because he doesn't like my thread but keeps posting in it, which is annoying.

What ANNOYS me the Most???
The word serendipity.

How do you feel about epiphany?

Just curious...:p

;)

Oh, dear. At the risk of flying completely in the face of this thread - both in conception, execution, and in the face of the plethora of posts which adhere to the title and flaunting positive feelings rather than negative gripes - I have to say that I absolutely adore, madly love and otherwise revere words such as 'epiphany' and 'serendipity'. And others. Many others. It is one of life's many pleasures to be able to savour language and applaud the subtle elegance of a language such as English, the roots of which lie deep in the loam of Viking and Saxon England, yet underwent many adaptations and modifications over the subsequent centuries......

Why, they are simply wonderful, evidence of the rich and varied vocabulary that allows for a nuanced yet precise expression when using the English language. And, what sounds, what words they are! Bear in mind that you roll them on the tongue (like a good wine, say a Ripasso, or even, an espresso) and enunciate them with care and precision when using them in public; to me, they are evidence of a well stocked mind, one which values learning, wit, elegance and subtlety.....

I agree with you but with the caveat the chosen word(s) are appropriate to the audience and subject matter. Tossing around words such as "form factor" when merely meaning size is transparently pretentious. And chiseling skeuomorphism and it's variations multiple times into a sentence or paragraph or conversation is a tad tedious too.

Shrink, citizenzen, .Andy, Sydde to name a few people whom I never get tired of reading because of their mastery with words. Whether I agree with their position isn't important but rather the elegant and logical manner in which they express it impresses me the most.

Thanks...your very kind words have really made my day!:D

No, I like 'epiphany.'

Another one that I loathe is persnickety.
Sounds a lot like serendipity. I don't like those repeated ē sounds in such close sequence.
When I hear such words I'm possessed with the lust to kill. Slowly I turn...

Persnickety. Hm.....I can almost taste this one......crisp on the tongue, like a wine from Alsace.....

Better, surely, to make someone who transgresses in such a way eat their words, perhaps literally as much as metaphorically - rather than surrendering to the bleak impulse to commit homicide?

For me, tolerant, tranquil and pacific soul that I am, dark thoughts of dark deeds only occur when someone murders language.......in a manner that mangles verbs, assassinates nouns, massacres grammar, slaughters syntax and, in the process utterly destroys meaning and the sheer pleasure of prose, poetry and the formidable power of human speech at its best and most articulate.....

1) Bad drivers. I recently moved to a new city for college and the drivers here are absolutely terrible. They drive so slow and it's crowded.

2) People who use the elevator to up or down one floor when they are fully capable of using the stairs not even 20ft away. Living in the dorms, here and my previous school, has shed light on this.

3) I am trying to think of the most polite way to say this -- but I can't. My last one is ghetto, trashy, ratchet chicks. Good lord, I don't even know where to begin. There seems to be an abundance of them at my school. Much different than back home.
