I'm doing the same things. Thing is, I do nearly everything everywhere on my iPad. If I can sell it and upgrade for cheap, why not keep getting the best since I'm using it like so?

Read a couple of books, in addition to normal usage. Didn't read on it before.

Laptop only been out for 2 hours since I got it, and that was because the iPad was charging.

Well I was moving from an iPad1 so:

-facetime
-Infinty Blade II (wasn't really playable before)
-LTE surfing - so much faster and enjoyable!
-Siri dictation
-Taking some random pictures with the great new rear camera

This is my first iPad, so I'm sure my experience is a lot different than that of folks who have upgraded from the first or second versions.

I used to reach for my MacBook Air all the time when I wanted to look something up, check my email, etc. Now I find myself using my iPad for all that and more. I've been reading magazines and books on it. Been kinda obsessed with Flipboard. Yesterday was beautiful here, so I sat on my porch and finished watching a Netflix movie I started earlier in the day. In the past, for whatever reason, it never dawned on me to use my laptop for that. I'm not sure why, but there is definitely something in the form factor that makes reaching for my iPad more natural for such things than using a laptop.

I agree with the OP about the camera, though. I can't really see myself using it for either stills or video, but I'm glad it's there just in case. I don't think I'd miss it if the camera was gone, though.

same boat here, first ipad. makes my laptop even more useless ;)

i dont find myself using the camer often either, my iphonr 4s is much easier and better quality. It is nice having two 1080 cameras if i ever want to do multi angles on a movie or something...

the same reason why someone buys a nicer car.

you're still making the same silly driving gestures, still flipping the same people off on the freeway.. but it feels so much nicer.

oh. and retina. i cant even glance at the iPad 2 anymore. i'm sorry.

While I'm not doing anything different on my new iPad per se, I am using it more. I just realized Sunday that for the first time in a long time I did not touch my MBP at all over the weekend. The screen on the new iPad is such a pleasure to use for me now that I automatically pick the iPad when I want to do something. I never did that with iPad 2 because the web on the laptop just looked better.

I never thought that the new iPad would start such a fundamental shift for me, but it sure did. It's the first device that I prefer over using a laptop for surfing.

The only thing I'm using my MacBook Pro for is syncing new podcasts, which I don't really need to do either. My MacBook Pro sits there unless I need to backup my iPhone 4 or my iPad. I have two other computers that are sitting completely unused at this point. The only thing I cannot figure out a way to do is to stream flash-based websites so I can watch other streaming video. I love this thing, I might actually marry it.;)

The only problem I have actually seen other than the obvious flash issue that I knew was there, was that I have no idea how to attach a picture from my camera roll or from the photos app to a forum post or anywhere else online for that matter. Any ideas?

By the way this entire post was done via the dictation method or app or functionality however you want to say it.

I'm using it more to read books -- for the first time it feels like I'm reading real printed pages.

I'm also using it more to stream video (mostly news and Vodcasts) since LTE is way faster than my DSL (but I have a grandfathered unlimited... those still have only used about 3.5GBs since launch.)

I sold my iPad 2 a couple days before the announcement. My actual out of pocket cost was $180. No regrets here.

Using it as a free weight since it is heavier.

Jiminy Cricket is that you? Greg Heffly maybe? Granny of Tweety and Sylvester fame? <I figure this poster either has to be a really smart insect, have string beans for arms, or a 90 year old granny if the weight equivalent of two nickels is considered a workout.>

Using it in portrait mode. All the promotional footage of iPad 1&2 showed people browsing the web in portrait mode but in practice this was terrible as most web pages were unreadable and you had to constantly zoom in.

Now I can comfortably read thing in portrait mode and web pages look amazing. I'm even reading comics full page now and the new HD comics look just like print.

I use the Tapatalk app. It will actually host the pictures as well. The iPhone app works well on the iPad as well. No need for the $5 HD version.
